Good to see the effort. He really is a sensitive lad, that support from Roy looks to have done the trick although it was probably him that broke him too.
I think this is definitely part of his make-up. He is not the sort of lad who thinks sod you all like Rooney. A much gentler lad who will need more development and support than we fans maybe expected before he is the finished article.

Just the fact he worked hard for the most part when he lost the ball was great, busted a gut and put in some slideys to win the ball back was great to see.
Tired as the game went on but I thought he was quite good in patches.
Just needs to build up his confidence more and we'll start to see him run at defences again.

Gullit made some very valid points on MOTD if you have seen him, Ross still is a headless chicken chasing and running when he needs to pick a pass. That experience comes with age of course, and playing in games will get him that.

At one point he was on the edge of the box with his hands on his knees done in from chasing the ball, whilst Southampton where in in our box attacking!

Agree with this in it's most part, but there was a time when he was chasing down the ball from 4 players on his own, would have been nice to see other players follow suit and start pressing their team high up the pitch, you see this commonly from the top teams, particularly barca in their prime a few years back who pressed high up the pitch, but all players put a shift in to win the ball back early, starting from one player they rushed as though it was a natural pressing system to close down the passing play of opposition. My point being, ross had no help from any other player closing down those 4 players when he was chasing on his own, hence why he was stood with his hands on his knees knackered later in the match.

Last time i saw him doing that was against UTD last season, was running around and was done in after about 25 mins and lost the ball a few times too.

Thought he was great, worked hard. Looks more confident.
'Great'?? 'Not bad' would be closer. He didn't make one incisive pass or one run on goal. He lost the ball when he shouldn't have on several occasions. To me he looks like he's got a number of different voices in his head whenever he's on the ball. I prefer the old Ross when he first burst into the team (before Moyes began slowly ruining him).

Yeah I think I watched a different game yesterday, at no point did I think Ross played well, he put in an average performance, I guess my bench mark is set higher than most.
