Spot on, I think that's been the main issue all season, the players aren't fit enough. Last season they were, and it showed in the games. This season we've conceded goals because of it and the all round general play has suffered. Players can't move in to space, don't close down and make basic technical mistakes because of tiredness.
That should never happen at this level, the manager has a lot to answer for in this regard. I also wonder if that's why so many players are suffering muscle injuries, because they're putting too much pressure on them in games when they're not in the right condition.
I've always thought it was strange this season because isn't Berto a qualified physio? I know at the start of the season he cited the World Cup as a problem for the fatigue (not that we had that many playing at the WC) but come the end of the season after rather early exits from the FA and Carling Cup we should not have tired players in the first half.
I read some time ago that the reason Chelsea manage to field the same 11 players almost every game - even when playing 3 games in a week say - is because they don't really push the training too hard and most of it is light cardio. Maybe our players are being worked TOO hard in training trying to fix our faults and in turn this is meaning our players can't last the 90 minutes?
