Ross Barkley

Don't get me wrong, I'm outraged that Gueye, Hitzlsperger & Naismith all came off the bench instead of Duffy, Vellios & Barkley.

However they are all saying "we want more football, or we're leaving". So do we play some young players, who are probably going to go out and loan in February anyway happy? Or play some of our first team players who want to leave due to lack of first team opportunities?

Think in a way, it does make sense. Just a shame for the youngers.

Crazy thought i know, but maybe the manager who watches him in training every week knows whether he's ready or not.

The lad is 19 years old. The injury he suffered not so long ago practically set his development back a year. He's way younger than most 'young' Premier League players.

Also it saddens me that some people have actually been kicking off about this, having barely seen him play. Who are THEY to judge whether he's good enough ?

Spot on lad there's some bad teds posting on this thread. Just won 5-1 & they can't wait to have a pop at the managers selection choices - embarrassing

Honestly, yes.

People will say I'm kneejerking but at the end of the day he's a gifted professional footballer who needs to be playing football.

Supporter of the club or not, I'd have my transfer request in if I were him.

There's no logic as to why players like Naismith, Gueye and Hitzlsperger are coming on for game time ahead of a promising youngster when we're thrashing a lower league side.

He'll be off back on loan come Feb. The best place for him! He's no doubt got talent but he should be able to develop in a quality league like the Championship.

People need to keep calling for him in every game though. The fact is that there are probably 16-17 better players than Barkley in the squad atm. He'll get his chance.

Moyes decisions were right today - starting with a strong team - but yeh i'd have liked to have seen Barkley instead of Gueye - who is awful. Truly awful.

I would have thought he would get in, but do we really think coming in to a game with a 3 goal lead on the road against a League 1 opponent is going to do anything to help him progress?

I'd like to see him play more but Moyes sees him every day. I'll defer to Davey on this one.

Dont think the lads work rate is up to scratch. Moyes sees it in training, probably tells him but doesn't see an improvement.

Could more Taarabt than Silva.
