Ross Barkley

I wouldn't be against using him right mid with Kev central for whatever appearances he makes.

Similar to how Coleman played there early on, will allow him to get used to playing in the prem, he looked much better there on Sun thna he did on the left.

Or in the middle but i reckon thats unlikely really.
Barkley will be in Fellaini's position next season I think.

I still can't figure out what position Ross should play, think his best position is behind the striker but not quite sure.

Agree with this, removes the defensive pressure off him and would allow him to get used to the quicker pace of the Premier League.

Thought that he did OK on Sunday, he had a game of two SIDES:

When he was on the right he supported Shamus well and played some sharp incisive passes in to Victor whilst tight up against the touchline. Also played in a very good cross to the near post and his heading also looked good.

He was put on the left to counter the pace of Walker which he did fairly well but he got trapped when up tight against the touchline, he wanted to hold the ball and play the simple ball back to Baines but Spurs got around him and he often gave the ball away. Pinnar does that role much better as he manipulates the ball in tight situations and Baines can run past him into the space in the knowledge that he'll get the ball.

Thought that Ross should have stayed on and moved into the middle in place of Leon who looked shattered. Can't understand how he was supposed to support Baines against Walker, looked like he was running through sand and that's when the problems were caused down our left. Also don't understand why Oviedo wasn't brought on to counter Walker?

Anyway, Baines and Osman to be rested against QPR in order to prepare them for the Arsenal game, Ross to replace Mirallas wide right for the last 30 mins.

That's the thing, I don't think Ross is a winger despite Moyes thinking he can practically play anywhere in midfield, he can't.

Playing him behind the striker would add creativity and we'd get to see what he's like carrying the ball. Playing him in the middle or the wing puts too much pressure on him and is weaknesses are exposed.

Yes, i actuially meant that Ossie looked like he was running through sand and gave Baines no support whatsoever. Thought that Ross did his defensive duties quite well but was much better on the right. Completely agree that he needs to be played behind Victor with Felli and Gibson behind him but can't see Moyes doing that. He's got a really good shot in both feet, just needs some game time to settle down.

As in next season? As in the season after this one? Starting in September?

Apologies for the porr humour, but simply the lad just isnt ready, especially not for a position of such influence.

He will get game time next year ive no doubt, however it is highly likely for me to be CM alongside Gibson or Osman (or another CM bought in) or on the wing against lesser Premier League sides.

He will get there, Osman took a little bit longer after all. Next season could be a big one for us, and is unlikely to be the time to rest our creative reliance on Mr Barkers

Could be wrong like!

I've said this loads of times, if we keep playing him then he'd thrive and adapt to playing in the Prem. No point in sending him out on loan and recalling him due to injuries all of the time. If we spend in the summer then fine, send the lad out on loan. But due to the small squad we have currently I'd throw him in there.

Oh I agree with you mate, he will adapt. I just think hes adapting slower than, for example, Rooney did.

Yes we can point to lack of game time, but its obvious that Rooney was terrorising youth football and terrorising his team mates in training. For me thats why he played so much. Barkley looked really good defensively at the weekend, but going forward for me he doesnt look like hes going to create anything, which im sure is a confidence thing.

Think your right, either he has to get game time or send him away for the season in the Championship

Tbf mate nobody in the history of football has adapted to prem football like Rooney did, a star since his debut.

Barkley will get there, he just needs game and to know he wont be slotted in the reserves for a year if he makes one mistake.

Agree with you mate, even I don't think he's quite ready yet, I just want to see what he can do. I'm prepared to remain patient with him but if it means a season on loan in the Championship then so be it. That would help his development.

He should have come on for osman maybe for the last 20 minutes of most games . This gives him time to adapt without the pressure of a full 90 to play . It also gives osman a rest . I wish moyes played him instead lf neville when gibbo was injured

Moyes has never played him in the No.10 role for the first team or for the U21's from what Iv seen despite I would think it being the most forgiving of the midfield slots. He see's him as an Arteta/Osman CM type IMO. Very hard posistion for a young lad to break into.

He looks a perfect No.10 IMO but hey what do I know..
