wait is that a real book?

God, I will cry if Ross goes. Normally I'd be a bit pessimistic what with the whole 'Moyes is **** at developing youth' but with Roberto, I honestly cannot see Barkley pulling a Rodwell. PLEASE DON'T LEAVE ME ROSS

Is anyone else trying to rein in their excitement. I can't help myself though. just think he's going to be totally taking the piss in a couple of years.

I know it's very fashionable to slate and blame moyes for everything that hasn't turned out perfect but rodwell was NOT ruined by moyes! Jeezzz, Rodwell for one was made of glass, and two was overatred in a time when nothing was coming thru the accedemy's with English players. He has/had Nowhere near the natural ability of Ross.

I dont think he was helped by moyes either,it seemed like he used to use him in a different position every other game. Moyes had his favoured players and all the others had to fit in around them even if theat meant playing out of position. I have watched rodwell throughout his Everton career and i dont know his position.

Agreed. A few on here, including the admin, had Rodwell sussed even when he was here.

I don't think it's a case of lack of ability with Rodwell; I think it's a lack of mentality, and that's nothing to do with Moyes. He's far too passive to be an effective top flight midfielder.

Rodwell is one where I give Moyes credit for exposing his hype to the first team just enough to milk a gullible buyer out of big money for him.

His derby performance was probably his most impressive so far. He was well up for the game as you would expect and expressed himself in the right way. I was really impressed by how he dropped deeper second half and was still effective. Let's not forget how young this guy is.

I've also got to say the handling of Barkley is probably one of the most impressive aspects of Martinez's start as manager. He has identified Ross as someone we can build a team around and has done it immediately. We need to keep playing him week in week out to keep any buyers less attractive. As someone said above, the teams who could actually afford him would not give him this free role he gets at everton which lets not forget has got him in the England squad at 19.

So many of us knew he would be this good, last season.

It's amazing that he has gone from Moyes sending im on loan to Division 2, to playing for England, in 6 months!!!
