i can see it already

Moyes 'alright kenwright ive had enough of you overpricing these players, he's worth no more than 10 mil ok, there you go can i have him now'

Kenwright 'nah'

Moyes 'fine ill go to 12 mil but thats my final bid, you know its a good deal'

Kenwright 'hmm, pass'

Moyes 'alright you drive a hard bargain 4 mil + fletcher, you know fletcher is 10 times better than that baldy lid'

Kenwright 'erm...sorry dave'

Moyes 'ffs kenwright your a moron, this is why i left you made stupid decision like this, your gonna regret it man, cant wait to stuff yers at goodison with an anderson winner stick yer boys pen up yer arse'

5 min later

Moyes 'How about 5 mil + Rafael then?'

Kenwright 'Sorry dave but he's not for sale'.
Pissing myself laughing at this, had a picture of Moyes in my head trying to act tough in his negotiation and all!

You're assuming barkley would want to go there and Everton would be prepared to sell to them.

Very valid point. Fact is Man United are a huge club but they are not the instant magnet many suppose them to be. RB may not be champing athte bit to go there and spend the next few seasons struggling to get them into the CL and hearing about how they are "in transition".

As well as that any lad who is dreaming of a "big move" ( not saying he is ) is nowadays more likely to have Barcelona and Madrid in mind than Old Trafford.

The lads behind the Everton Aren't We Facebook/Twitter say that they've heard Barkley is close to agreeing a new 5yr deal here anyway. They've got a lot of stuff right in the past, so i have no reason not to believe it.

Expect jarg articles like this for the next few years, i wouldnt worry about it. He'll only go to Man United when David Moyes leaves.

A new contract would be good but at the end of the day won't make much difference if the offer is big enough. But Moyes can just koff and find his own non everton associated players ffs.

Moyes would have to be pretty dim to bid for another Everton player.

Obviously Leighton and Ross are total class, but Moyes needs to get his supporters onside, he won't do that by fishing at his old club again, especially seen as Fellaini is now regarded as overpriced.

Baines and Barkley are going nowhere in January. My sauces tell me Baines has never asked for a transfer and never will (he's as blue as Ross is).

Regarding a bidding war for Barkley in the summer, we have to make sure we've tied him down with a major new contract before the Spring starts.

Baines did ask for a Transfer in August and agreed to put in in writing to ease a move to United in case it happened. He would never rock the boat and does love Everton but he did want to go and play Champions League football.
Th fact he still hasn't signed a contract speaks volumes.

Have to say that we should all prepare for Ross to go at some point, dont think it will be this window, probably after he has a Gazza-esque World Cup in Brazil. Would 50m be enough to turn heads though, reckon Blue Bill would listen to offers despite the derision it would cause amongst us lot.

The way we are (possibly) heading, there's only going to be a couple of clubs finishing above us, meaning that 'bigger' clubs than Everton will decrease quickly.

With a bit of luck we will provide him European football in front of an adoring club and with the jersey that he has always dreamt of wearing on. As the years progress, we will be able to pay him better wages. He's playing for a manager that respects and values him, and sees him as an essential part of the club's future. He will get constant game time and always be able to put his best foot forward for international selection.

Honestly, I see no reason why he would want to leave. And I'm confident that nobody behind the scenes would be daft enough to force the sale of a marquee player for the best part of two decades.

Simple

More money and to challenge for major honors

I'm certain his development would get constantly rewarded with wage increases when it is warranted, and if we can be in or around the top four consistently then jumping ship for another club isn't necessarily going to provide more chances for higher honours.

Listen I love this club as much as the next blue but facts are facts

We can not afford to pay any player top wages (150-200k a week)

In and around the top 4 is not challenging for the league/CL every season

It would be a miracle if we finished top 4 this season never mind repeating that feat season in season out

The clubs around us spend 50-60m min every summer and to keep up with that season in season out will prove to much in the long term imo

I can't argue with that.

I guess the hope is that the lad wants to use his talent to do something special for the club he loves.

Only time will tell.

Maybe we should sell him for over 80 million to Man Utd as Moyes will probably loan him back to us for the rest of his new contract with Man Utd as soon as he makes one mistake on the pitch
