Moyes had 10 years to invest further in Finch Farm.

It is Martinez that came in and said he wanted more in his first season at the club.

Again, let's remember Martinez is new and in the biggest job of his career to date. He may like many other managers never get a bigger gig than this job. He's ambitious and excited about what he could achieve.

David moyes after initially transforming our fortunes also then shared an ambition to better the club and win things and achieve, he was clearly excited about it. 5 yrs or so of banging his head against a wall, he seemed to give up eventually....

Let's see how bobby reacts 5 yrs latter if he can't take that final step.

So Moyes back then was not ambitious?? Are we really better financially?? Stubbs can still give advice over the phone. Stretford was a big factor in Rooney leaving. Whose to say Barkleys agent is not whispering in his ear " I can get you x amount from City "
Nope, never ambitious compared to bobby.

And he's not our manager right now??? Sorry but how can a manager that sets up his team to not lose be ambitious?

I agree, his tactics against the bigger teams was set up not to lose. But if he was not ambitious as a person, he would have never took the risk of being the man to replace Ferguson. He had a job for life with Everton while Bill was chairman.

Cheers for the link, interesting statement on it.

In most cases, you cannot claim capital allowances against the purchase price or other investment in land, buildings or property.

That is selective quoting !

You can claim for equipment and building renovation work.

There is also other items that by investing in finch farm entitles the club to tax relief

Its not equipment or renovation work though, and with us posting losses for the previous years we would not be paying corporation tax. Sort of defeats your reason why we lease.

It's simple, we could not afford to do it.

It is renovation work and it is equipment.

That is nonsense. There is a reason that the club do not own finch farm despite being offered it. The club doesn't want it. There is a reason behind that too.

This. Ambition is relative to your position. To be fair to Moyes (And I've criticised him as much as most) Making us hard to beat was a step up at the time.

To say Martinez is more ambitious than moyes was back in the day is a little unfair IMO. They took over very different clubs...

Moyes took over a club that needed rebuilding from the bottom with no money...

Bobby took over a club needing to make that final step with a very good starting point and a little more money...

It's very annoying how people are re-writing history with moyes. He's almost talked about in the same breath as smith and walker ffs!

Moyes did brilliantly for this club. Maybe went a bit stale and out of fresh ideas by the last couple of years but none the less brilliant otherwise!
