My only issue with Barkley is that he keeps shooting when off balance, just take one more step, or control the ball or pass, its never going on target. I'm not bothered that he loses it sometimes trying things, or that he makes the wrong decisions, that will come, but the shooting thing for some reason really annoys me.
That being said he has bags of talent and is full of potential and I love him as a player. Not sure how much of his potential will be realised, or how good he will be but I look forward to watching the improvement game on game, season on season under Martinez/

The shooting will come, just like everything else. He's still a newcomer when it comes to Premier League football. He's really only had one season of it. Loads to learn, and Martinez will make sure he learns it like you say.

Thing with Ross' shots from the edge of the box, if they're on target and to either side, they're in. He hits them with such venom that when he improves his accuracy he'll score a bucketload.

Still worry why he only signed a 4 year deal not 5, for me it will be that he gives us the next 2 seasons to see how we progress and then if he has a good season/euro 2016 and the vultures come circling with £40 mil bids etc. Whilst he has just 2 years left We couldn't risk letting his contract run down to the final year.

Hope not but I think it sounds a likely outcome tbh

He only signed a 4 year contract because his potential is still not fully known. He doesn't want to be one of the best players in the world at 25 (his peak) and only only 60k a week. Being on a shorter contract gives him more room to negotiate a higher contract in the future.

How many goals do we think Barkley will get this season? His decision making will improve and once he adds goals to his game he'll be unstoppable.

I'm going for 8 in the league, 11 across all competitions

Exactly and that works both ways. We also don't want to have him sitting on 75K for 5 years (like Lukaku) if he doesn't reach that potential.

I suspect that Roberto if he has a good season will want to extend it next year.

Although I'll be honest I would have preferred it be 5 years but maybe there's a bit of team management going on as well. Currently our highest wage earner is Baines, is it really right that Barkley at 20 earns the same amount?

I also wouldn't be surprised if it was the time length that was the thing they compromised over to get the deal over the line.

You could say the same for Lukaku and he signed a 5 year deal.

Martinez, Coleman, Stones have all renewed their contracts on 5 year deals, Lukaku, Besic and Galloway have all signed for the club on 5 year deals, so it does seem a little strange why Barkley is the only one to pen a 4 year deal instead.

Must be a reason for it just don't know what it is.
