I can't tell you how many times over here we see American football players given the same initial prognosis only to find out after the scan that the ACL is torn. I'll take 6-8 weeks over 9-10 months, but I'm pretty terrified right now.

But if the 6-8 week timetable that's been mentioned is correct then we're talking a minor injury possibly a meniscus injury or minor ligament injury. If so then it can probably be solved with a simple keyhole surgery and barkley should be back in about 6 weeks possibly even quicker than that.

Meniscus is my guess as well. 6 weeks should be about right, but my guess is Roberto will be slow about it.

Some of you lads are suicidal over losing him for today. The lad is going to be a class act but he was very quiet in most away games last season. Quite afew times Osman came on for him and made things happen instead. I'm not advocating Osman to start, but the Barkley isn't the be all and end all quite yet.

It's bad news but it's not the end of the world. It's only 2 months and will give the kid a well earned rest out of the limelight.

Incidentally I'd play Naismith in there today. He'll put a shift in for us cos these are gonna be full of it.
