Ross Barkley

I still think that if Osman isn't in the best 11 then he isn't a first pick, but anyway...

Considering how good Barkley is, how much would an "adequate replacement" cost? You're a blue, you know the constraints financially.

It's not ideal but unless we find a sheikh we will always have Osmans and hibberts padding out the squad in case of injuries to our first 11.

You find a middle ground between "not as good as Barkley" and "not as bad as Osman". That's what the loan system was made for really.

If there is such a gulf in quality between your first choice player in a position and his reserve, you need to narrow that gap. We can't afford Osman to be the first choice pick in attacking mid if Barkley is unavailable.

Naismith is decent even though he shouldn't be our second choice striker I won't be too down hearted if he's replacing Barkley for the next 6 weeks even though there is a gap in quality.

Osman and Hibbert on the other hand are absolute tosh and it pains me that they've both been playing for us for over a decade.

I will be very surprised if we don't have at least two of Seamus, Kev and Rom playing some part today - even if it's only for part of the match Nais is sound behind the frontman.

We will do these today and the old lady will be rocking against the arse and rent boys - that should see us through until Bobby brings in reinforcements.

Think it'll be Osman in behind Naismith, Hibbert right back.

And any game we start with those three in those positions, we'll lose as many as we grind out a win. You can't have three players of that quality in a team for any sustained period of time if you're chasing the top four.

In fact, if those three start, I might put a cheeky bet on a Leicester win. I don't have anything against Naismith really as a bench impact player as he moves well, but he doesn't impress from the start, and the less said about Osman and Hibbert in 2014 somehow being in an Everton starting eleven the better.

I've we're going to get Top 4. We're going to need to win 80% of our games against the bottom 13 teams. That's simply not going to happen with those 3 players.

We'll grind out a load of 1-0s at home but draw far too many away from home.

However I think we'll see Besic, Atsu, Mirallas and Lukaku in our front 4 which is still a strong team going forwards and probably a little stronger in possession and defensively so we shouldn't be too badly hit.

The big problem is if one of those now get injured we have no one of the required quality left.

Besic's a defensive midfielder mate.

Besic's a defensive midfielder mate.

We'll play 4-3-3 with him playing alongside McCarthy and Barry behind both.

He's got the quality in possession, engine and range of passing to play there. Plus we looked good when he played there with those two in pre-season.

My main concern is if he will play Atsu, Mirallas and Lukaku. He probably would have preferred not to but I think he needs to.

I think we will see Gibson take barkley's role.

You wrote down several times that it was Mo who caused the injury but now it's written down that (I quote) " Rumours that Ross was hacked down by Muhamed Besic in an attempt to ensure Mo got a game against Leicester are not true." Then apologies from MG for what?

Don't think you 'GOT' it mate (see what I did there...?)

McCarthy is better going forward to me. Besic is still a bit of an unknown quality, of course he can do the running and winning of the ball but McCarthy has played in advanced positions. I agree with your 4-3-3 suggestion but it could be a bit like Arsenal, Naismith in the middle with Lukaku wider, maybe. Atsu will come in soon especially with Ross's injury but he's only been at FF a couple days.
