Ross Barkley

He's obsessed on Barkley in a way he never did with any other player this season. Initially he brought Barkley up for discussion at the beginning of the season by giving interviews where he stated Barkley hadn't delivered in his career. Then his press conferences were dominated by questions on Barkley and he never held back.

There can be no re-writing of history on this. Koeman has heaped pressure on Barkley all season.

He was asked about him because he was dropped... he lost his England place ... and so the media got interested...he's correct if he said Barkley hasn't delivered in his career..... but for someone that is "obsessed" with Barkley... he doesn't seem to give a [Poor language removed] about losing him lol

That's the reason why it's not conducive to building a team. It was a numb nuts appointment and it's costing us not only an arm and a leg with =his salary but also costing us our best talent walking out the club.

Barkley isn't our best talent... most naturally talented ? Maybe ... but he isn't hard to replace and if he wants to go then let him go.... he's really not good enough to get upset about IMO...

I see Spurs are turning their attention to Sigurdsson at Swansea. A better player at half the price.

...a situation which might well lead to a 'change of heart' by Barkley/Barkleys agent. Pochettino(?) has been quoted as saying 'Siggy is the finished article, Barkley would require a lot of work'. Nothing much to disagree with there....

Or playing the game as our supposed price tag is ridiculous

Barkley will go for £30mill. Sig £25mill and 4 years older.

From what I've read, Poch wants Ross more.

Talking about being obsessed...................

Some media are saying Everton want £50 million for Barkley...Siggy price is generally thought to be 25 million. Pochettino quoted in the Daily Fail today as switching his attention to Siggy.

As I've mentioned...we are not selling a player with 12months left for £50million.

Hence the game.

Koeman's said he's up for sale. Club slap £50mill on him to drum up a bidding war. Spurs say they can get someone else for half that, offer the same to us. We say no. Wait for another club to bid more. Spurs or some other team slap £30mill on the table...deal will be done.

Swansea will have the same with Sigurdsson.

Same Daily Fail that said Ross is Poch's first choice.

This will last well into summer.

"We've lost stones and we will lose lukaku and maybe Barkley but I think long term we will be stronger under Moshiri."

To get stronger we'll first have to replace the talent haemorrhaging from the club THEN buy quality on top of that...and the evidence of his first season here with the lowest net spend we've had in three seasons shouldn't fill anyone with confidence all that spending will happen. Add to that mix a manager who apparently wont be around more than another two seasons and a director of football who is just a chief scout and therefore not capable of overseeing transitions in management and you have a recipe for a big fat turd sandwich.

That's one take on the state of play at our club that I don't think should be dismissed. Debated with, yep, but I wouldn't dismiss this lightly.

It only takes a few bad decisions to set a club back, as we saw under the last boss where one moment you are being open-minded and saying oh...McGeady/Cleverly/Kone/Niasse are ok and can do a job for the money spent. They are just squad options. ...then fast forward a couple years and you are wondering why we stink and our squad is full of crap that need jettisoning urgently.

The purchases of Bolasie and Stek keep me mindful of a similar outcome under this regime, where we are looking back in a couple of years and wondering WTF!?

No, it was well before then.
