Dispensed with the usual dodgy rags claims, took mine from BBC sports.
Had a look. No quotes - probably about the price of Barkley all this.

He initiated it all and gave the message throughout this season that he was well up for questions about Barkley.
Dont be making excuses for him.
Of course he was happy to take questions on Barkley, he will take questions on all matters concerning Everton like any true professional manager would. He initiated it all and gave the message throughout this season that he was well up for questions about Barkley.

He's obsessed on Barkley in a way he never did with any other player this season. Initially he brought Barkley up for discussion at the beginning of the season by giving interviews where he stated Barkley hadn't delivered in his career. Then his press conferences were dominated by questions on Barkley and he never held back.Of course he was happy to take questions on Barkley, he will take questions on all matters concerning Everton like any true professional manager would.
Some may not like the answers but when the player dosent have the same professional stanards amd commitment to Everton that he has him self at this present time there isn't much he can say.
No one needs to rewrite history, don't forget with Barkley being English and local he is far more of a story to the press then a lot of other players so it's understandable he is talked about more in press conferences. He's obsessed on Barkley in a way he never did with any other player this season. There can be no re-writing of history on this. Koeman has heaped pressure on Barkley all season.

All players are under pressure but some handle it better then others, when/if Barkley goes to the capital (West ham proberbly) or the northeast he won't have the same amount of pressure which might help him.
Not to mention off field pressure which Barkley has away from football, which is a bigger problem
He's been targeted by Koeman though. The club should be a safe haven for him to develop his talent, instead it's become a place where he has to justify himself from game to game like no other Everton player in my experience has ever had to do. The level of scrutiny was brought down on him by his manager and he's done it for a purpose.
Sorting the wheat from the chaff, don't forget Koeman will probably only be here 3 seasons so he has to move fast, you only have to glance at the table and the home record to see how he has transformed the side, if anyone can't hack it and gets chewed up along the way that's there problem. He's been targeted by Koeman though. But surely he 'targeted' him as you put it because he felt there was a better player in there who warrented his attention. It worked as well. Among the group I attend the matches with, most felt he had plateaued and where disappointed in him generally. This season , following Koeman 'targeting him', all felt he improved massively, and at the games you can sense that's the opinion of the whole crowd. Hence the standing ovations, I don't recall him getting many the previous seasons. He's been targeted by Koeman though. I agree, he has put the pressure on and as a result Barkley has responded quite well, if we want to challenge for top four and a trophy next season the pressure will only increase. I'm not saying Koemans infallible but he's not in the wrong here I don't think. In reality we should've offered Ross a new deal last year and if I were in his shoes I'd be signing the one on the table so I'm disappointed how it's played out so far and it's on Ross head. He's obsessed on Barkley in a way he never did with any other player this season. Or a Lukaku 2018.West Ham and Newcastle the only interested clubs hahahaha, he's going to do a Mirallas in 2015 and just give up and sign the contract in the end.
