Ross Barkley

Could also be a case of Koeman not liking Ross, and wanting him gone. Always two sides to the story, and for me Koeman seems to be getting a free pass through all this even though he's had a pop at Ross a fair few times in interviews.

Think this is a case of Ross moving on to suit all parties.

But Lou...

He's not actually 'had a pop' at all.

Whenever he 'criticised' Ross, in the first half of the season, he did it at the same time as criticising all of the squad for not having enough attacking 'productivity', as he calls it. This is after making him captain for a game.

Then, when asked about the contract, he stated that Ross would be/had been offered a good deal but if he didn't sign we may have to sell, as the contract situation deemed it so. He's consistently also said 'we want to keep our best players'.

That's not having a pop.

Koeman rates Ross and Ross has worked hard to prove he can work under Koeman. He improved a lot from Xmas onwards last year. But still, 5 goals and 9 assists in all competitions isn't staggering is it? We need more, and Koeman said he'd be targeting the forward area.

But he hasn't signed a mega deal for this club. That's, at the end of the day, nobody else's decision except Ross.

@blue62 where are these reports mate?

All I can see is the £150k thing - which seems to have come from the Mirror, mind
It was reported yesterday, think it was either Mail or Independant.

My take is that Spurs have cooled and leaked his wage demands to placate their fans. Ross can hardly come out and say it's bull because it blows his negotiating hand with any other suitors. Just a theory.

We don't know what the wages situation is or if it's true

However if true I suspect Ross is using the fact spurs will get him cheaper than usual as a way to ask for a higher wage at spurs
This actually makes some sense. But I think he'll have to wait until next year before that plan will work. Plus, dont try it out on clubs like Spurs who operate a strict salary policy.

Just skimmed the last half dozen pages of overnight stuff. All of It - still - circumstantial. Most of it calling him greedy, thick, Judas, what have you. A spectrum of 'exclusives' from £15m to Spurs to demanding £150k a week - just lean back in your chair and look at how ridiculous this nonsense is!

The only thing we can truly say is that there is NO info on him or his situation. Nature likes to fill a vacuum, and so we get all this pseudo-ITK tosh and armchair journalism.

What I wonder though is what Ross's state of mind is through all this. For the last 2 months hes been in limbo - maybe of his own making. For the last 3 weeks he will have woken up every morning not knowing his next move perhaps. And yet he is painted as a greedy judas that is bleeding the club and stalling our progress.

I don't know what's happening, but the fact that it's taking so.long and there's absolutely no comment from either side suggests there's a deal that's waiting on another. It could be Spurs holding out till TDD, or it could be Ross waiting to see what we'd pay Siggi.Or something else.

Either way, if he signs and stays, I'm sure the club will have a sugar-coated alibi for the whole process (Ross desperately wanted to stay all the time and we wanted to get the deal right for him, or summat...). And we'll still be able to love Ross.

And if he goes... then he'll get both barrels of the Greedy Judas treatment! lol

This ^ makes sense, as it wouldn't be in his camps interest to release that info.

It might also explain why he's not signed the deal with us, as he patently wants more money than is on the table.

I've said from the off that he'd not get more money at Spurs than us, as they're not massive payers by PL standards.

I think he's had terrible advice throughout from his management, who does he use btw, anyone know???

Reading Spurs forum (Spurs community) , their ITKs suggests deal is done & announcement today. Their ITK says media is wrong on salary demands- 90k + addons.

...I have to be careful what I say on this thread but imagine the queue of clubs after a truly top young player approaching the last year on his contract. It must say something that only Spurs appear interested in getting this supposedly brilliant talent on the cheap. Just saying.
I might have expected that comment from you Eggs. You've always hated him ever since he bullied those kids half his age in the Echo cup final when he was 14.

Seriously though mate, although its well documented that he's not exactly been your favourite player, that is a valid point you make.

I doubt it. You know what twitter and rumours are like

However we did bottle it with Rom's fee, I think with Ross the longer we leave it the more we are going to have to accept his price is reducing daily

Can you tell me exactly how we bottled it with Roms fee
75 m cash
15 m in achievable add ons ( if rumours are correct )
Rooney for free ( worth at least 10 m of anybody's money
And here the kicker
Half of Rooneys wages paid for 2 years
That's 15 million pounds.
Tell me one club in the PL that would not have taken Rooney for 10m and half his wages paid
The 2 deals were linked from the start
You're posting drivel to suit your agenda the same way you do with your net spend crap
You're like a less intelligent pup out of Davek

Everton midfielder Ross Barkley wants £150,000 a week to join Tottenham and the Toffees are demanding £50m for the 23-year-old.

That's Ross staying then!!!!!
