Thought Barkley was okay today but did smile when the TV presenter started his raptures on his goal - only for replays to show it took a wicked deflection.

The lad is good but should be showing so much better on a more regular basis.

Barkley is probably the player that gets the easiest ride from Martinez. I love the manager so I will happily respect his judgement here but you have to think if Barkley had even half decent competition for a spot in the team then he'd really kick on a bit.

Martinez is giving him more and more game time to gain experience and this will help his decision making, which will improve with more minutes on the pitch. The more I watch Barkley the more I'm convinced that we have some player on our hands. If he can maintain this level of progress he will dominate the Euros if Hodgson let's him play in the role he plays for us.

Ross has already had a tonne of game time at the top level. He's played something like 100 premier league games and over a dozen times for his country.
