Ross Barkley

Charlie sweet you are an idiot lad, that is all

Thanks for the intelligent contribution. So if I don't think Barkley is currently world class I'm an idiot? Thanks. I think he's good, very good even but nothing special. He's had 100 games to show something and his end product is still generally very poor. It's time he was sold. £30m to Man City or a swap with Oscar at Chelsea would be great business.

Tackle everyone, 100% pass success rate, at least 10 chances created per match and a hat trick every game.

Not at all. For a start Barkley doesn't tackle or challenge for headers but never mind. I'd ask for a better end product and just a good deal more intelligence on the ball. That would be great.

I think Chelsea would go for that deal. I wouldn't though
And 30mil to the richest team in the world who paid 50 for sterling
Lallana cost 25

Charlie in the last few hours you've suggested signing Jon Walters and selling Barkley.

Barkley is far from the finished product - he's 22. But to say his overall end product is poor is nonsense mate. You may have had a case in his second season and even first, to an extent, but this year he now has 9 goals from all comps and (I believe) 7 assists.

From a midfielder by January, that is very good going.

You also suggest £30mil. Sterling went for £50m, and he has worse stats. As for suggestion of Oscar, there is no way swap deals ever happen, and even if they did, we wouldn't afford Oscar's wages and he wouldn't come here.

Thanks and you've made a good point but I would be interested to see the previous year's stats for Sterling though.

11 goals and 10 assists.

Barkley struggled last year - in no small part due to picking up a nasty injury that kept him out for over 2 months after a stuttering pre-season due to the world cup, and playing in a struggling side.

His form picked up around March, and he hasn't looked back since - as well as having a solid pre-season - same as Rom.

I'd like to sign someone like Walters to be an improvement on Kone yes. That's nothing to do with Barkley.

Barkley has had 100 games plus what is it maybe a dozen for his country. His end product is poor in my opinion and going by the groans in the crowd around me I'm not alone in thinking that.

Sterling's stats from the previous season would be useful before comparing. That season he went beyond average Premier League class in my book. I think he's better than Barkley.

I know swaps don't really happen it was just a means for debate. I'd just prefer to have Oscar in the team ahead of Ross.

No chance. Barkley is compared to the likes of Gascoigne which is the most insane over-reaction. Ross isn't fit to lace Gazza's boots at a similar age. I was at the game for his debut in August 11 against QPR. He really showed promise with a few lovely moves and breaks forward. But his end product was off. No worries he's only young. Fast forward four and a half years and little has changed.

I like the fact he's a blue don't get me wrong but to suggest we have some kind of world class potential on our hands is madness. I'd swap him for Dele Ali of Spurs in a heartbeat or take £30m off anyone willing to sign that cheque.

Well that's just plain wrong

If you think there's any chance in a million years of a Barkley/Oscar swap deal you need to get your head checked pal.

On a sentimental note, I don't understand people that want to sell a great young player who's from Liverpool and who's grown up with the club. It saddens me when we don't field any proper local players.

We need to hold on players who know what this club means to its fans, rather than replacing them.
