His stats up on SSN just then, not one for stats they can be changed to suit, but......

Amongst them

Created the most chances for Everton in the premier league this season.
Made the most dribbles.
Most fouled player.
11 goals scored so far. 8 in the premier league, second behind Lukaku.
Second in the most assists behind Duelofeu.
Passes he's second in that to behind Barry.

I was all for us signing a no 10 this year, but imo it's done us a favour and saved us a lot of wasted money, that can be used elsewhere.

And it has, it's been used on Niasse in order to get another striker in as well as someone who can fill a hole on the left in certain games.

Fella behind me, every week, whines at everything Ross does, last my rag near the end tonight, told the lad next to me as loud as I could what an utter bell he is, I suspect next week im gonna turn round and tell him, bellend gets off at 85minutes every week as well, so didnt even see his 2 goals tonight.

Comical.

I have the same bloke behind me, we all must have one.

Mine has his wife and kids screaming the same negative ribbish too.....he sat down fuming when Ross grabbed the ball for the 1st pen....and got off after it hit the net.

Why do they even come to the game?? I would seriously question what i get from it if i was them.

Let's hope the fans don't push Ross away.its strange that he got haters in the ground. I use to have them screaming insults about Neville and hibbert but Ross ? Why

I'm exactly the same, bloke behind me moans about him non stop. I think its the way he slows down the game at times, some people see it as genius others see it as him 'dithering' and frustrating.

Alvin martin on talksport got it spot on in my opinion last nite, he said its called composure, and the fact that he shows it at his age, shows he is top top class.

You're right, we all must have one. Although that isn't fully true as it's a whole section of negative "supporters" near where I am. I despise them all.

I've noticed that it's the cool thing to do these days at the match. They turn up, wait in anticipation for an outed Goodison scapegoat to mess up (Kone, Barkley and Howard are the leaders in this category), and then show their disgust and anger if they do mess up. If any of them do anything good, sit in silence and wait for the next mistake.

With Barkley, these people expect far more from him than any one else in the team. Probably the same narrow minded fans who don't appreciate McCarthy for the hard work and effort he puts in, and expect Barkley to be Roy Keane, Zinedine Zidane and Lionel Messi rolled in to one.

If Barkley leaves, i'll take some satisfaction that he won't have to suffer the moronic abuse off some of our support.

One thing I will criticise Barkley for is his lack of fight off the ball when we need him to get his body in the way. He chased back last night at one point and put Townsend on his arse which was great to see. But there was a spell in the second half where he just allowed the game to pass him by when he wasn't on the ball. Martinez may allow him and Lukaku to do that, but as an experienced player now, he needs to do more to stop them coming at us. Just getting closer to put pressure on the player running with the ball.

I agree with all that, his off the ball work-rate is the area that needs most improvement, and it will come, im sure.

I don't understand some of the boo'ing myself .. look at the contributions he's done this season .. goals and assists

He loves the club and is one of our own ( scouser ) we should be proud to have such a talent in our ranks

I actually didn't think yesterday was a particularly good game for him. I remember watching him thinking it's just not been his night tonight. He has scored two penalties, which will do confidence no harm and look good on stats but really that is doing what I would expect so that doesn't change my view on the performance too much. He just held onto the ball a bit too long at times.

However I am delighted for him. Tonight he will get more credit than he is due, however it is just rewards for his all round performances this season which he has not been given credit for. I said a few weeks back the big thing he has improved is becoming far more responsible and less of a liability for us (he rarely loses possession in our half now). He also takes the ball in tight difficult areas and keeps it for us. This improvement of his game is largely hidden and those who get on his back a bit don't take notice of that. It's understandable as it's not as visible as two penalties are.

You cannot underestimate the skill but also the importance of his ability, when we are under pressure to "break the lines". IE when we have the ball under pressure in our own half, take it past one player and carry it deep into the opponents third. The criticism of him that too often he makes the wrong decision is fair and he will hopefully continue to improve that aspect of his game. Don't under estimate the importance of getting us up the pitch though, and even if he subsequently loses it, we are in a far better defensive shape.

The lad is becoming top draw for us. At the end of last season I had revised my views of him a little. I felt he had the potential to be as good as Rooney but wasn't performing to that level. This season has been a huge break through for him and he really is that elite player now. He has 13 goals in all competitions now and 10 assists. That is Gerrard/Lampardesque form. That is what we should be expecting from him as he deserves to be mentioned alongside those players and this season has started to deliver on that level.
