Ross Barkley

The last player I can think of that drives at players from the centre as well as Ross was Beardsley. Must be an absolute mare to defend his relentless aggression and enterprise.

Rooney definitely did that mate.

Without harping back or anything, he really was up there with the best players in the world during his time here. I know we finished 17th in his last season like, but he was utterly superb. Ross is starting to show that same ability, and adding end product to his own game.

Should have had about 3 assists tonight if Kone knew how to shoot.

Wtf? Is that evertons official twitter? Lennon was our best Player today, so a strange thing to tweet.

Nah. Barkley was. You're wrong, I'm right.

Lennon set us up for a win. Barkley played well after it was won. No discussion Who was most influential for The win.

Personally think you are both wrong and that McCarthy was the difference there for us. Stopped all that tension in the ground from growing too much as he regularly broke up play and turned over possession, and was pretty useful on the ball too.

But I don't get the Cows reaction to the idea that Ross be given MOTM or the snidey comment that he only played after we had won.

enjoy him ffs

Hmm the Rooney I remember for us was class but still more of an exciting prospect than the complete player he developed into under Fergie. And he played better for England than us. His vision was better than Ross' but he wasn't as brilliant at driving forward with the ball as Ross is. I would gladly have him back though if Rom left, would love to see the two of them in the same Everton team

Yes he can frustrate on occasion but what quality he has. But that piece of skill in the first half in their area when he twinkle toed past two players and flashed it across the 6 yard box! To be applauded. Even the turn on Shelvey (who brought him down and somehow avoided a yellow card). And then the chipped penalty. Quality. Brightened my night along with the 3 points.

Wayne Rooney definitely did not improve for SAF he lost a bit of his edge.

He drove at everyone when he started fot the blues and panicked every team for me. Second season he had a fall out with Moyse, influenced by some of the senior players and wasn't as effective in a team low on spirit.

Ross is the best we've had since Wayne and may well prove to be the best, if the crowd stop getting on his back. Some numpty behind me called for him to be subbed tonight when he didn't get a shot away in the 2nd half, even got his name wrong calling him Berkley, which summed the fella him up.

Ross was motm tonight followed very closely by lennon.

In 46 years of watching my beloved blues Wayne is still the best player I've seen, Ross is the closest I've seen to him and will hopefully stay to fulfil the promise we see.

You go to the match to watch quality and Ross, Geri and John Stones are all exceptional players we should cherish and support not berate. The eldest of these three lads is only 22, which says everything to me yet people want them to be world beaters all the time and criticise them when mistakes happen. Sometimes it is frustrating but you know what not half as frustrating as listening to the drivel spouted by some of our support.

Difference with Ross now is he is starting to believe in his own ability he wants the balls so much more and it's proving with his goals and assists this season (11/8)

Was just about to ask the numbers

11 goals
8 assists

Still a lot of football to be played, if he gets to 15/10 that will be a great total.

Yeh I meant with England mate, should have clarified that. If he hadn't have got injured in 04 we'd have won that tournament, I have no doubt about that.

Think he did drive forward when he got the chance, but the systems being played are different, the team is better on the whole and the style of the whole league has changed really.

Barkley genuinely has an ability that so few others have though in his skill of being able to turn a man so many times. Newcastle afforded him half a yard today, and he showed what he can do.

11 goals and 8 assists now in all competitions (domestically). Four goals in three games - each of which he's arguably been man of the match in. Keep it up Ross!

ross the boss tonight.

Believes in himself again.

Still needs to work on decision making, and being smarter which i've slated him for in the past.... BUT.

I guess i'm realising that literally does just come with time, he's a incredible talent, he's frustrating yes but he's at a level at 22 that some players can't ever reach.. so, i guess i hold him to high standards.

I don't get why the bovril brigade [tends to be the older generation, no offence] absolutely slate into him, nearly having a heart attack whenever he makes a mistake, and just basically rage at him. I just don't get it, he's a evertonian, he's one of us he's not one of them players who support everton and are kept around despite lack of talent [hibbert, osman] the lads got everything it takes to be a everton icon... yet a section of the fans just WANT him to fail, where as to some stones can do no wrong.

A panenka takes massive balls. Looks incredible when it comes off but you'd look a massive ted if the keeper just stands still and catches the ball. Made up he's got the confidence to do it
