Ross Barkley

The best bit for me tonight wasn't his attacking runs, cool penalties or lovely flicks/turns to get away from opponents - it was the tracking back half way down the pitch to make an excellent tackle.

It isn't that I don't love the other aspects as I do, it's just that I think that being able to provide defensive cover is one of the few things holding him back from being the complete midfielder and so good to see him beginning to develop it too.

The one true Prince of Goodison, kneel before him and beg forgiveness.

You know who you are.

We can only hope he will be our driving force for the next 10 years.

Show us there is still passion for boyhood clubs and dreams Ross!

Sometimes I just want him to power his was past a few players and smash the ball like it's Suarez's teeth though.

One thing I think he lacks is aggression and a ruthless streak.

Hoping it's just brewing its way to the surface with age.

Our Ross is world class.

Agreed LL, the very top top players have an insatiable appetite to win the ball back and start attacks (and usually finish them ). If he could add that side to his game the sky is the limit.

I'll be honest, he frustrated me at times tonight. He's arguably the player in the team who gets the most time on the ball yet he spends most of it trying to think about what to do next with it and completely slows everything down. Undoubtedly has superb technical ability, he just needs a sharper brain imo.

Boss pennos though like!
this is blob on bro, I've noticed for some time that Ross doesnt see passes before he gets the ball. Even at the level I played at I'd have a pretty good idea where I was going to lay it off before I received a pass, he spends too much time with his head down. This could be why his decision making isnt always the best if he is doing too much thinking too late in the play. Great player tho, but could be better.

Once again the vaults squeak open.

What a player he is. Yes he frustrates at time but he is so much more composed and mature compared to last year. What a player we have on our hands. Only going to get better as well.
