Ross Barkley

Tbf Ali has been excellent, reminds me a bit of Ross his first season although slightly more advanced - Barkley's leg break and lack of game time could well have accounted for some of the difference. However Ross has come back from that trauma, a MCL injury, the pressure of a World Cup and last years poor season - really showing his mentality now which is what often seperates the best from the rest.

Ali will hit a rough patch at some point, not that I wish it on him but all young players do as we're seeing with Stones, time will tell how he deals with it.

Agree he's been good this season, just wish the media/pundits wouldn't go on about him as if he's already world class. Heard one pundit the other day say that Alli and Barkley would both play the same role for England, and that Alli was ahead of Barkley to play that role.

I'd swap him for Dele Ali of Spurs in a heartbeat.

Alli is like 19 you know, and it's his first season in the league

Anyway, Barkley is ace

Ali has 96 professional games under his belt Barkley 107. Granted barkleys are at a higher level but there levels of experience are closer than the 3 year age gap would lead us to believe

Thought he ran the show against Newcastle. He still made the odd bad decision but then who doesn't over 90 minutes?

My one quibble with Ross is that he seems to take a second or two too long to shoot which leads to lots of shots being blocked/deflected, he didn't used to do this when he first burst onto the scene. It might be because he's trying to be unselfish and make sure there's nothing better on, I'd rather he just lashed it at goal more often.

I'd happily see both Stones and Lukaku go in the summer if it meant keeping Ross. He's the one to build the team around.

No chance. Barkley is compared to the likes of Gascoigne which is the most insane over-reaction. Ross isn't fit to lace Gazza's boots at a similar age. I was at the game for his debut in August 11 against QPR. He really showed promise with a few lovely moves and breaks forward. But his end product was off. No worries he's only young. Fast forward four and a half years and little has changed.

I like the fact he's a blue don't get me wrong but to suggest we have some kind of world class potential on our hands is madness. I'd swap him for Dele Ali of Spurs in a heartbeat or take £30m off anyone willing to sign that cheque.
Popcorn.
