Ross Barkley

Needs to do better overall, looked drunk today. Good penalty win, but either should have taken it himself or let baines, not rom. Overall a good player, but needs to work a lot harder.

He doesn't anticipate anything off the ball, always about 20 yards away from rom and standing still. The chemistry between them in the first season is nowhere to be seen

This.

I seen at least two instances today where he stood & watched, when he should be reading where the ball will end up.

Either he's not very intelligent, or he can't be arsed. Either way, he's GOT to improve in that department as well.

Or alternatively a combination of being utterly ran into the ground this season and he feels exactly the same as we all do as fans so whats been happening has taken its toll on him more than anyone.

Like with most of the better players in this team, get a new manager in who actually is top quality and watch them improve massively

Didn't think he was as bad today as some are making out? Showed some quality in the second half and I thought he wanted to win as much as anyone today.

That's how it looked from my seat anyway. People are obsessed with criticising him.

Run into the ground? Not physically, because he didn't even stroll today. I appreciate there's a lot of expectancy placed on him, but he's an established player now. Martinez has given him the games and he hasn't produced in half of them. If Martinez has indulged Barkley, then Barkley's equally to blame for allowing himself to be indulged.

All players will tell you they don't care for much else as long as they get to play so it shouldn't matter about the management. He's getting games, so what's his excuse for today?

Whatever it is - I'm not buying it. That was indefensible as well as inexcusable.

he won us the pen, helped us get into the game second half - stop f'ing moaning and blaming it all on him. he had a poor first half - who didnt?

Tried his best. Looked isolated so often, especially with no options on the left.

Agree with all of these.

Anyone who thinks he was poor and Cleverley decent is a monumental biff

I love Barkley when he has the ball but still has to learn when to release it sharper. Off the ball is his weakness. He is a big, strong fast lad yet jogs around not closing down or putting his foot in. Maybe a new manager will work on this so we can have a complete player.

The tackle won the pen. It just happened to be on him.

There were 9 other outfield players who did 99 times a much running as him, and they contributed to us coming back into the game every bit as much as barkley did.

That first half was unforgiveable. He may as well have not been in London, nevermind Wembley. It definitely contributed to untied bossing us for 45...

Much improved after winning the pen, its like his confidence was given a boost.

Still think he needs to be much fitter though and improve his pressing.
