Ross Barkley

You've seen have 2 or bursts box to box. Playing in the middle means constant running and tracking. Doesn't have the awareness of what's happening around him to play there, people would run off him very easily exactly how they did today when he decided to have a convo with rom after playing a suicide ball

Question: when Barkley plays well and scores/assists - do you get on this thread and praise him?

I doubt it.

He's being scapegoated by frustrated people. Well i say this to all those frustrated: "have a look at the manager who's supposed to coach this team to recovery after last season or have a look at the owner of the club who was supposed to buy the manager the players he was promised".

At least then you'd be on the right track to solving your frustrations and not coming out swinging as a mob on a 22 year old kid...WHO JUST HAPPENS TO BE OUR MOST TALENTED PLAYER.

So predictable this thread beI got very active tonight. He wasn't the ball no one else does he struggles in possession as no one moves for him.

We have played the highest number of long balls in the league & broke the record for crosses in a premier league game last week not exactly setting up to get the best out of him are we

There's 11 put there on the pitch mate. You only point at Barkley because

a) he's local

b ) you KNOW he's head and shoulders above any other player we have talent wise.

I understand the frustration, but if he's not being coached well that's down to someone else, isn't it?

See i think its the opposite, people think he is good because he is local, if we bought him from Watford or someone like that and he had a cockney accent he wouldt stand a chance with Evertonians.

My views on Barkley have always been limited because for all his natural born ability his awareness his in the game is awful.

Blame Koeman all you want, but martinez couldn't consistently get the best out if him when he heaped praise on him and he's lost his place in the England squad.

And at 22 years old I thought I'd see someone with a bit more determination.

Going to end up being a massive waste of talent if he doesn't start showing his quality. I've stuck up for Ross but he's getting on my nerves now.

Barry was the man to come off not RB scapegoat again in our one man midfield!

Too slow moving the ball. So many problems in the team right now, but he is definitely one.
He shows for the ball, receives it looks forward to what ?????? Lukaku standing next to 2 CH's WTF are his options, Jeez , Messi would struggle in our team of statues.

I want nothing more than for Barkley to succeed. It pains me to see him struggle and look so average out there.

But truth is, he's been up there with the worst of them for a while now. The past two seasons have shown that maybe he wasn't everything he was talked up to be.

He is just a bit of a weak character it seems.

We have been crap for 2 and a bit seasons now and unfortunately he is not the type to get us going in bad times.

I don't like all this moaning about it him, because in a few years time when hopefully we have a solid manager and squad, and if he is still with us he will be a very good part of the squad. Sometimes a good sub option and sometimes first choice when in top form.

And I think thats the minimum we can expect from him, which is fine by me as when we do come good I will love having a skillful local lad being part of that. It is disappointing he is not as good as he seemed he might be but I don't see the use in slating him constantly. He doesn't pick the team.
