Ross Barkley

You've seen have 2 or bursts box to box. Playing in the middle means constant running and tracking. Doesn't have the awareness of what's happening around him to play there, people would run off him very easily exactly how they did today when he decided to have a convo with rom after playing a suicide ball

Won't be saying that in the summer when City and Real Madrid are battling for his signature will you

I want nothing more than for Barkley to succeed. It pains me to see him struggle and look so average out there.

But truth is, he's been up there with the worst of them for a while now. The past two seasons have shown that maybe he wasn't everything he was talked up to be.
Please stop talking utter rubbish 2 seasons?????
he was in the sky team of the season last Christmas & was playing well until after the West Ham game on the 05/03/2016.

This is barely 6 months of football for christs sake 3 of which the entire team & squad were diabolical under Martinez. Currently this season we have not played well as a team for more than 20/30 minutes.

Slightly baffled as to how he's being singled out again following that shambles. It could have been anyone playing there & they'd have looked no better. The problem isn't solely Barkley, the whole midfield is devoid of ideas, including both wingers, regardless of which 2 he picks.

Mental.

The problem with Ross is that when he's having a bad game in terms of his touch, passing etc, its basically like being down to 10 men. If he was struggling but still putting tackles in, harrying, pressing and tracking back then he could be forgiven as players will always have off days, however Ross only offers something in an attacking sense, so if that's not working then we are stuck.

Arsenal have a similar situation with Ozil, when he's off form its like being a man down as he does 0 dirty work. He will lose the ball and expect everyone else to win it back, however Ozil has a lot less off days than Ross.

It not just him, there are a few like him out there, however he needs to take responsibility for the work he's putting in on the field.

He's not though is he, if you look at other threads?

Must say in Ross' defence, it must be hard when you've got the ball, and when you look up everyone round you are just standing there with hands on hips.

I do think he'd be a lot better starting from deeper alongside Gueye, dropping Barry against the weaker sides. But overall he's so disappointing at the moment, doesn't challenge for tackles or headers, just lets the game pass him by. So much talent in there but for two and a bit seasons now he looks lost.

He is playing poorly and deserves criticism. People moan about Bolasie who is actually creating chances, so it's hardly unfair if people point out that Ross needs to do much better. Personally I think he is becoming a luxury player we can't afford to carry.

Against weaker opposition at Goodison it has to be tried.

For three years Barkley's made absolutely no improvements to the side of his game which could easily have been fixed. Martinez just bought into the lad's talent without wanting to work on his positioning/heading/work rate, and that's why we're at this point now.

Leave him alone. The team are awful not him individually. NOBODY moved for the ball yesterday. The amount of times jags or Barry threw their arms in frustration at having no forward pass to make was ridiculous.

Ross will come good when he is surrounded by players that all press and play for the shirt and we are playing well as a team.

Sadly, this is not Everton at the moment.

Love Ross, but lets be honest work rate and pressing just aren't his thing. I would love to see him drop further back, but it scares me even more, he allows players to just ghost past him.

No-one came out of yesterday with any glory really, so can't single Barkley out. However I was hoping he would have started to kick on this season after giving up on Martinez.
