2017/18 Ross Barkley

A player like Barkley should be sold for nothing short of £50M. However, we are in a poor negotiating position and the player wont stay here now. If it is Spurs with Barkley in their sights then Levy would be a fool for letting Everton get away with a fee of anywhere approaching £30M. IMO, he'll be sold for o more than £25M.

What does it matter to him how much a of a bargain Levy wants to drive? As long as the manager wants him he wont be arsed.

Well in tgat case if pochettinno wants him and levy won't pay what he's worth then that's gonna cause tension between them two considering they've just sold walker for 50 odd mill

His exact words from his press conference on 11th May:

"We dont wait until August. He accepts a contract or we will sell the player."

We're past that point of no return (unless he's now rowing back on it) and therefore the only conclusion to reach is he doesn't want him.

But barkley is for sale and if a good offer come in he'd likey be gone. How can koemans back up his words about selling him if no offer has come in? What do you want him to do? Phone spurs and make them make an offer

He'd be paying what he's worth. He's a player who's market value has dropped through the floor in the last 12 months. He'll be valued at nothing next summer. If you're Levy then you'll expect your manager who has, presumably, laid the basis for the deal to hang on until the last million can be saved.

True. That said, even you must accept it was more than decent in all likelihood. I get it, you hate Koeman, ergo, anything he does will be judged by you as crap.

But the fact remains that Ross was offered a new deal. He did not sign it. Not yet anyrate.
he has had a contract many media outlets directly from our club verify this the amount is probably confidential!
Everton FC say it is very favourable!
Clubs will be interested in him trying to get him cheapo!

In the first place I don't know of the relationship between Barkley and Koeman and I don't believe anybody else on here does either.

Whatever it is, there is no doubt there has been a shift in the language used by the manager and I wonder if this is the first step in a choreographed move to allow the player to sign a new contract and stay.

I imagine that both Barkley and his agent would have expected some real interest in him over the summer(as I did). It seems however that clubs are prepared to wait until the last minute to see what the real bottom price is that Everton will accept.

This is good business by the buying clubs, but hardly makes Barkley feel special and wanted as there is a risk that Everton will not budge and Barkley gets completely stumped and stuck with a club he wants to leave and if he ever gets a game is playing in front of fans who may not support him as they did before.

However, we are lead to believe he was made a very good offer by Everton and he turned that down, maybe he sees that the club that values him most after all is Everton.

Regarding his private life, I doubt that anybody as high profile as Barkley could be touched without causing a major incident. Getting a black eye was reprtedly widely, God knows what would happen over something more serious.

So you are calling the Everton Manage out as a liar? He has said publicly that the club offered Ross a contract.

You must really really hate the bloke. Very sad.
Ok. A contract 'was offered'. Let's say that's true. But so what if it was derisory and/or offered grudgingly by a manager as a way of preserving the value of the player to the club while giving no assurances about shifting his new signings out of the team to preserve his place...a minimum looked for by any player signing a contract?

Was it?

Derisory that is? Seriously Dave?

I dont know. It's possible isn't it? If you have a history of pointing out how limited a player coming to the end of his contract is and how they should improve and that the lad is a senior player now and should be better, then why would you offer a bumper new contract to him?

I wouldn't. I'd shift them out after going through the motions...and I think that is exactly what Koeman is doing.

Its possible. But in the current football world, utterly at odds with 100% of everything else. It would also flatly contradict the sort of price we would want.

"£50m for a player you have made a crap contract offer to?"

You lob the blame squarely at Koeman. I think other factors are in play.

That said, I wouldnt fall off my stool if he signs anyrate.

The manager does not offer the contract, the board does. Has Barkley or his advisers stated that the offer made was not a good one? You cause trouble just for the hell of it don't you mate?
