I agree that Sanches is a better player but the similarities in their situation are striking and Arsenal will play Sanches for one year more depriving someone who wants to be there gametime
For me the options are 1. he signs the new deal 2. not signing and sell him before 31 August 3. let him runs down his contract and aid his development by playing him in the first team.
Option 3 is just silly the club will be the utilimate loser. I think option 2 is visible as Koeman made that clear in May. He just changed the tone a bit in case there is a possibility that a strike can be negotiated with his agent which at this time, has a very slim chance of happening.
