I seriously can't bealieve all the nonsanse people are coming out with to explain Barkley's decision to leave. The gangster thing is pure nonsense and I don't buy into Koeman pushing him out either. For me this whole thing stinks off Barkley's thinking he's better then he actually is and wanting to play in the champions league without taking into account that he wouldn't make the first team of the sides he'd have to move to to get champions league. To top it off he's been horribly advised by his people who obviously don't really care about his long term playing prospects. They're telling him what he wants to hear not what he really needs to hear. Short term losing Ross might hurt us a bit but it will do irreparable damage to his career.

His agent would make more money if he signed the supposedly offered 120k pw contract we offered than if he signed on at spurs for a much lower wage mate

They understand power and influence. The clubs rule the roost in this city. They are all powerful.

It's a complete non starter all this "run out of town" business.
When gerrard was leaving ,that was also due to his of field activities. The club stepped in and smoothed things over and nothing more was said.

That's all well and good and is very probably true.
Only problems with your reasoning is.
Gives the bedwetters nothing to fume about.
Your theory wouldn't support 164 pages 90% of which are filled with pure drivel.
I will own up the fact that I have supplied a fair proportion of said drivel

We've all done our bit mate

Im not necessarily suggesting his agent is the problem mate or that his people are driven by wanting him to move so much as they're just saying what he wants to hear. If Ross is taking advise from other people who dont have his best interest at hart and Ross says he is desperate to play in the Champions league what's his agent supposed to do? There's a very real chance Ross could be surrounded by yes men telling him he's the greatest thing ever, it's gone to the lads head and nobody wants to tell him he's making a horrible mistake.

I would rather he stayed, but if he has told the club that he wants out,the only way back would be for him to come out and say so,all it would take mate is for him to say something a long the lines of he was frustrated with how he was playing and getting dropped by England and he thought a new club would reignite his game etc etc.Im sure the fans would forgive him and then you would find out if it is the manager who doesn't fancy him.
I wouldn't be too sure he said what's been attributed to him.

Errrrm Dave if they can force one to stay, why is it so hard to think they could force one to move?

BTW, Kanchelskis was effectively forced into moves about 5 times during his career due to people he was connected with and from some pretty big teams as well.

Go on then mate, illustrate 'exactly' what Everton would do if such a thing had happened?
Not from the type of people supposedly who have Barkley "on the run". They were supposed to be Russian mafia with Kanchelskis...true or not....bit of a difference like.

Palms were greased to straighten out ruffled feathers in the Stevie Me case ( Stevie got a bit too big for his boots...footballers don't necessarily cut much cachet with serious criminal elements)
I do not think Ross's transgressions have impacted particularly highly in Liverpool gangland hierarchy.
It certainly isn't a life or death scenario... but things can be made very uncomfortable
