Who knows? That is the point, we all so desperate to hate him we seem to think him wanting to leave can only be cos he's a rat. I don;'t believe it is that simple.
I think there's two issues here, why he wants to leave and how he's going about it. Personally I think he wants to leave because of his relationship with Koeman, who I don't think has handled the situation well. If that's his reason I don't have a problem with it.

The second part of this is how he's going about it, which is deciding to run his contract down so the club will either get a small amount of money or none. That I do have a problem with and it really doesn't reflect well on him as an individual and as an Evertonian. The reasonable thing to do would be to agree to extend his contract for an agreed transfer fee. Both parties then benefit, Ross gets to leave and the club get reasonable compensation. It's how he's going about it which is the cause of people calling him a rat.

Hahaha, some of you lads on this thread

That only comes into play for me if he goes to Chelsea in January, if he goes to Spurs (who didn't try and sign him, or maybe Levy has had a word) then the reason he didn't go to Chelsea is because he didn't want to. At the end of the day we can't have a pop at him for not joining a club he didn't want to, just so we got cash for him.

I can't agree but let's see what happens in January, we'll know a lot more then.

I agree with the first point, he might just not get on with Koeman. It happens, no big deal but, then people say "he's weak because RK likes him and offered a contract to prove it", the contract might've been offered because RK wants 2x or 3x what we'd get with a year left on his current deal (which should have been nailed down a year earlier!)? The Everton media spin machine is good at this kind of thing.

The 2nd point I disagree with only because I'm not sure he's deliberately running his contract down to make us lose money. If he genuinely doesn't get on with Koeman, then it's clear he moves on. It might be that he prefers Spurs but, he was willing to deal with Chelsea until he couldn't speak to their manager! I've never been in that position but, surely, speaking to the manager of the team you are meant to sign for would be a prerequisite? Koeman, on several occasions, before signing a player has been asked if he spoke to the player and he replied "of course".
