He can P off on January 1st.
The fact Koeman has gone and the fact we've been through a very difficult period shouldn't change the fact that Barkley clearly wanted out in the summer, clearly doesn't believe in the club's future and clearly isn't the sort of player we can rely on to help us kick onto to big things. For all his faults I was 100% behind RK on this issue, he was right to get tough on Barkley and start demanding more. And when Barkley didn't deliver he right to first prod, then drop him.
I hate all this sentimental "he's one of us and we should love him" crap. He's not improved as a player since the 13/14 season. For 3 years he had a manager who bleated on about how exceptional he was and it still didn't get the best out of him on a consistent basis. Then he had manager who tried to motivate him with tough love and he only got even less reliable.
It's time to just go lad, enough of this wishy-washy crap. Yes we've missed him from our starting XI this season but we don't need him long-term. Sigurdsson is finding his form, Davies is growing as a player, Klaassen may yet come good and Rooney is still a match-winning player. Barkley doesn't want to be here and the only reason he still is that he bottled a move to London and cost us about £20m. Nice one.
