2017/18 Ross Barkley

If Barkley wanted to maximize his profit and minimize Everton's compensation he could have hung on to the summer.

But let's put it this way: that's £15M more than Moshiri will ever hand over to Everton and never see back.
Fair enough. Moshiri has an agenda, I get it. But Barkley leaving in January means Barkley is totally blameless! Ok.

I think he’ll surprise a lot of people on here. He’ll be surrounded by players much better than we have here. A lot of the frustration aimed at him was likely due to teammates not being available for passes/not being on the same wavelength as him.

He’ll do well I reckon.
I think he will be found out as the pace they move the ball around and players move around, he will struggle, better players than him are sitting on their bench and can't get regular starts.

"We are talking about an English player, a young player, he is a good prospect for Chelsea," said Conte.

"I think that the club decided for this investment. This is a good opportunity for the club to buy this player. For sure, it is a good prospect for Chelsea".

If he had a brain he'd be concerned by those comments - it has all the hallmarks of a Scott Sinclair, Fabian Delph, Richard Wright etc and filling quota.

He starts with English, references "prospect" and to compound it, puts the responsibility/emphasis on it being a club decision regarding it being an investment (resale etc).

Imagine still being called a prospect at 24.

I tell you what I'd read if I were you: this club's history in the last two decades and the claims made by it's owners and it's dealings with players they sell - you will see a common theme emerge.

don't need to, I've been a fan over 30 years. and am a qualified accountant. hence you talk utter gonads

I'm glad this is now coming to its final conclusion. The lad has been stinking the place out for too long. He STILL hasn't reached his so called potential. Flashes of talent during a few games every season never cut it for me. His goal return was also average. I do hope he goes on to realize that potential, although I wont hold my breath.

We are not losing a TRUE BLUE, because a TRUE BLUE wouldn't shaft Everton Football Club.

So do I. People are just hurting at the minute because they know deep down he is a good player but just lash out with stuff like " He is a waste of space on the pitch " and " He is thick " so what if he is, he will not be performing brain surgery.

The reality is, we are sitting here fuming calling him everything under the sun and a few hours later our team managed by Big Sam will no doubt get our rears handed to us at Anfield.

If he was thick as people made out he would be staying here with us losers.

I for one will be gutted to see him go, I think the midfield need a player like him.

On the other hand,
Relating to his tweets regarding waiting until he's fit again?

Makes you wonder what he was actually holding out for, considering it's the same outcome as what would have been in august?! Was it for a spurs bid that hasn't happened (I personally thought that was his preferred move)

Or like has been mentioned, did Chelsea say wait until January we'll offer Everton less and you more because of this?

Be interesting to see his press conference once he's signed.

Let's hope we spend the money wisely on a better replacement who wants to play for Everton fc.

He’s decided to take 6 months pay from a his boyhood club, while fully knowing his value would massively decrease over that period. On to top it off he’s had our top end medical facilities pampering over him all so he can remain close to his family all the time knowing that he would return fully fit to turn out if for his new club.

Top end rat
Is this true? I would have thought football clubs would have players insured for when they are injured. Save clubs a few bob each year as there are always injured players.

I think there was one major reason why he chose to go now instead of going in May and lining his pockets more, Dave.

The World Cup.

He stayed here, he was watching it from his couch.

But if he plays half a dozen decent games for Chelsea before the season's end he will be on that plane for sure.

Just to think, his dear old mum told him that he would captain his beloved Everton.

He did

Once.

"Wish me well as you wave me goodbye ......"
