There must be an almighty battle going on behind the scenes from the elite clubs in world football to secure his signature. Must explain why he's still here.

Absolutely spot on.
When people moaned today about us not keeping possession - this is why. What Barkley does is carry a ball and not give the stupid pass into a position which is likely to result in a turnover. So the "dawdling" people complain about with him isn't what they think; it's simply that he's waiting to transition the ball intelligently rather than give a pass that anybody could do.
If people went to Goodison last year or watched away games and didn't see the chronic lack of movement from our attack, then I can't help them. But Barkley wasn't the problem - he was doing exactly what he was tasked to do; get in between the lines, take the ball, turn it and look to progress an attack.
We've missed that badly in pre-season. Indeed, the only time we had an element of it was through Lookman in that last 20, because he cut into that line and took the ball to feet.
His price goes down every day it gets closer to the end of the transfer window, which is why we'll see bids towards the end of the window. There must be an almighty battle going on behind the scenes from the elite clubs in world football to secure his signature. Must explain why he's still here.

Time will tell, let's see what happens.Makes zero sense if a club actually wants him that. Its one thing to hope to pick up a good player on the cheap, a totally different one if a club actually wants the lad as a starter.
Its like waiting till the last day of the sales to buy a top for a few bob less, but you aint that arsed if you dont get it.
*flagged and permaban requestedControversial, but brown source is horrible Mikey.
Its a bit hard to sell any player when undergoing surgery! There must be an almighty battle going on behind the scenes from the elite clubs in world football to secure his signature. Must explain why he's still here.
Similar to the one we're having with Barca and Bayern for Sigurdsson I imagine. There must be an almighty battle going on behind the scenes from the elite clubs in world football to secure his signature. Must explain why he's still here.
