think when he fit and full of confidence and full fitness we have some player here, im so excited about this boy

One positive for not having any money is that it does give youth a chance. I hope we see a few get some game time this season.

Whatever happened to the hype regarding Baxter? Regarding Barkley and Hope I am certainly wishing for them to establish themselves, because we have had a good spell out of the Osman's and Hibbert's we have produced but they are coming to the end of their shelf life, and simply put there have been times where we have relied on our promotion of youngsters to pull us through the mire.
Osman was loaned out to Derby a long time ago now, he got a run of games, they raved about him and wanted to sign him. He went and got the experience and it worked for him. I feel it is a big ask to expect youth potential to step up and be capable of facing their first hurdle at prem level. Even Rooney was far from consistent when he got a run. So personally I would like to see some of the prospects get a couple of months loan at championship or first division level just to get used to the knocks and scrapes and atmosphere of fully competative football against more experienced and bigger players.

Reminds me of a young right-sided Irish man.

I hope Baxter is given an Osman/Coleman style loan at a decent Championship side. He doesn't seem able to make the leap to the premiership but a loan at a slightly lower level could be the making of him. Surprised he hasn't already been loaned out actually.

anyone see the world cup draw on Sky Sports news last night? Trevor Brooking was asked what he thought about the future for England and he said there are some really good youth coming through. He mentioned Wilshere and then some other player i think probably sturridge. then he said there is a really good youngster from Everton Ross Barkley who got a bad injury last season but he is a very very good talent.
So for him not to have made a start yet for Everton and for someone with as much football knowledge as Brooking to be touting him as a big star in the same breath as Wilshere (already a regular England international), well the kid must have a very bright future ahead of him.

Seems to have been given Pienaar's old #20 for the new season.

Looks like a good sign if you ask me. #20s are usually like second #10, doesn't seem like the number you give to a player you are only going to play twice a season. then again its just numbers :P

I'm genuinely excited about this lad, really really am. Every time he gets the ball it's magical, cos we've seen exactly what he can do, he's shown a lot this pre season. He seems to be very quick to spot passes and what's going on around him, and isn't shy about taking on players either. For a 17 year old, I dare say he's at a more advanced stage than Rodwell was then. Sure he has to work on a few things; he's lost the ball a few times pre season but that'll come with time, just needs to mature a bit more and he'll learn more of what to do.

Hopefully he gets game time tonight, but I'm not sure whether Moyes will play him considering our opponents.
