Yeah, he definitely still has ‘something’ to offer.

But to be throwing tantrums when not in the starting 11 at his big age just isn’t worth it.

Feel sorry for whichever team is about to pick up his 500k a week tab.

That looks strategic rather than a dropping. He's 37 years of age. They're gambing on beating the Swiss and getting him right for Morocco.

He’s had incredible strength of will throughout his career.

I’m convinced he’s been driven to the heights he’s reached purely by not wanting to be upstaged by Messi - and it’s through force of will alone that he’s got anywhere near his coattails.

But you can only defy reality for so long, and reality is in the process of hitting him like a very slow but nonetheless massive freight train.

The last person on earth to realise it’s over will be himself.
