They remind me of the old German sides: grind you into dust in the end.

All great group matches.

Nostalgia? Yes, to a point. But Euro 2000 was easily one of the best two Euros ever (three if you include 1976 - four teams, three classic matches). That's uncontested by most observers.

The worst matches at this tournament have either involved England or been between two of the “top” teams. I’d rather watch Georgia, Turkey, Austria and Romania. The tournament is better for the variety.

One thing, at least, with this French side is they look very strong defensively. Only conceded one goal and that was a penalty. That defensive solidity gives them a great platform against anyone.
