So, the team that drew with Scotland are supposed to be an obstacle to Gareth's Courageous Lions.

It's coming home.

I think they tried the same against Spain - playing defensively for no reason for 70 min until they actually realised they can have a go.

Feels like it will be the same here.
They have no players to threaten anyone. It makes it hard to play aggressively

Comparing the midfield press on Czech TV, pointing out how easy it is to pass through the Italians, whereas the Swiss are working as a unit, supporting each other.

Right now only one team in it.

Never seen what is usually a competent team collectively pass a ball as poorly as Italy just did
They've been rubbish for years now, bar an inspired week three years ago that is ever-increasingly looking like the aberration we must now accept it was. There is an argument that Italy have never really recovered since winning the 2006 World Cup. They were dross in 2008, were bombed out by Slovakia - yes, Slovakia - in 2010, played above themselves before getting demolished 4-0 in the 2012 final, lost to Costa Rica in 2014 (beat England, mind), did their best in 2016, failed to qualify for 2018, denied Garth and Jordan their knighthoods - somehow - in 2021, and were beaten by North Macedonia for 2022 and missed out on a second World Cup appearance in a row.

Utter plop.

Gareth will be salivating at the prospect of a 0-0 and penalties win. Just hope he doesn’t sub on a load of youngsters in the 119th minute to take them again.

They’ve been rubbish aside from the very notable time they won a trophy is kinda a hard sell imo

Ha ha, yes. I almost forgot that. I am more easy minded than some about Gareth's tactics, but that was unquestionably a remarkably hubristic piece of mismanagement. Set them up for an epic fail.
