Oh I meant more the collective effort.

Costa Rica no doubt used the climate to their advantage, but they still turned Uruguay over 3-1 which was the shock of the tournament.

I think at the time the tournament was great, but looking back didn’t enjoy it anywhere near as much as I thought I did, was just a vast improvement on Vuvuzelas in South Africa!
I vaguely remember it as being enjoyable. You had an exciting Colombia team. The Dutch spanked Spain 5-1. Chile were fun to watch and nearly knocked Brazil out. Brazil lost their shiz when Neymar got injured and imploded against Germany. Not an all time great but still fun I thought.

2018 was better mind

From my lifetime, 2018 > 2014 > 1998 > 2002

The rest were all poop with no redeeming qualities other than Zidane's headbutt in 2006.

Ah, yes, the German humiliation of Brazil was fantastic. As was Spanish downfall at the hands of the Dutch. As with many tournaments the genuinely ace bits have nothing to do with the England team.

watching us right now is like watching Roy's England at home to Slovenia or some other team in a Euros qualifier. Those kind of games you put on and wonder why you even like this sport...

That germany brazil game was a once in a lifetime experience, the kind you tell your grandchildren about. I was at a Mexican restaurant in San Diego with my Mexican father in law when Chile did the same to Mexico in the Copa America...every few minutes a murmur would go round the place as another went in...it was eerie. Sorry for the off topic, but watching David Luiz somehow salvage his reputation by crying after that was disgusting and fun at the same time.
