Royston Drenthe

Cue fans jumping down his throat.

He's got an ego. Moyes doesnt do egos.

Enjoyed your loan spell Ricky, you were class. Good luck with your future clubs.

Naa I don't think this is true at all. No manager would play a player who behaved like this in front of cameras/other players etc. Pienaar is a better player, Rappin Roy has a few magic moments, he was largely absent from the City game and made a lot of mistakes along with his one or two extravagant flicks. At the end of the season I'd much rather get Pienaar permanent over Drenthe.

He's had attitude problems everywhere he's been and he's not good enough to warrant a Cristiano Ronaldo style ego he has on him.

Wont get Pienaar on a permo though...

Ricky's on a free. Even if he was Ronaldo mark 2...Moyes wouldnt be playing him every week.

But it'll look like we wont have either next season and we'll look elsewhere with the funds from the sale of some players.

He's not actually that good, gives the ball away and makes silly decisions far too often for me. Yes he might offer some creative spark but I just think he's overrated by most Evertonians.

Rather Pienaar over him anyday.

Yeh probably, that's the Kenwright way.

I believe we could be in with a shot of getting Pienaar but I won't hold my breath.

If I was a betting man I'd put money on Drenthe ending up at the shoite or Newcastle, he'd fit in well at either of these two clubs.

Maybe its just me, I just don't like him. I'd rather go the pub with big Nev than skank out over a bottle of cristal with Drenthe. I guess on a free he'd be decent as a super sub. He's no way the solution to either the left or right hand side but sometimes (like today) it doesn't feel like seeing the complete Everton without a cheeky guest appearance from Drenthe.

We wont sign Pienaar. He went looking for a big pay rise and it didnt work out. I cant see us paying double what Spurs paid - they'd want a profit - to bring him back and pay him less wages or at least wages we offered when he snubbed it.

Drenthe's a live wire and a menace. He's unpredictable and a attacking flair player who defenders hate to play against - a showboater with real pace.

To me, its his first season in a new league. The type of player he is, he'll make mistakes because he's trying to do things. He fits the league but he just needs to fit in the team and be used properly.

We are a very zonal team with little movement. So when Drenthe loses the ball attacking with pace, there's no back up or movement for him and we tend to not attack in numbers. Defensively his a liability, so he shouldnt be anywhere near our box. These are two things that dont work well for him.

He's got the the skillz and he's a free. We wont sign. But we need players like him IMO to look forward.

He's totally different to anything we have, he can beat a man with skill and pace - we haven't seen anything like that for years. I've said it loads of times, those are the qualities you need to get through **** defences that just stand in a line aka. the bottom half of the league. I really can't understand why Moyes would think he's alright to play against Man City and then drop him for Wigan.

I love him. He's bonkers and that's as often a bad thing as it is a good thing. But honestly every teams needs at least one unpredictable player.

We finally have one in Drenthe.

And we don't use him.

He can be a bit of a liability defensively, but he has that spark, where he can suddenly change a game. Rather than keep him on the bench because of his weaknesses, we should let him play to his strengths and try play him off the striker where he can roam around the pitch without having to do the defensive work.

He's potentially alot better than both Pienaar and Donovan, he just needs regular football, it wouldn't even take that long before he's considered our best footballer. Certainly until young Ross come through. Not only does he have the qualities you'd usually associate with a pacy winger but he's also good at recieving the ball with his back to the play, can go either way and has excellent technique.
