That's either a really poor justification, or just flat out dumb. I'm not sure where you heard that, hopefully not from anyone at the club.

I may be wrong then but I could swear I was watching a game the other day and a player got his fifth yellow of the season (the little info bar popped up) and the commentators said nothing. They usually comment if it means a ban.

If that was the reason which I seriously doubt -- it was the first game we've had Pienaar and as many had said before there was no way he'd play both at the same time, plus Landon, and he'd pick Pienaar because of his superior defensive attributes -- then that needs to be questioned. This was a more winnable game than Chelsea by an absolute mile and Drenthe really could have been the difference.
