Incredible strength in depth , and while the focus is usually on the forwards there are some very talented backs who didn’t even make the 23 like Canan Moodie and Am . I’m not sure if Am is match fit , Moodie is a huge talent for one so young and will only get better , but in most other teams you’d have them starting.
Was reading now Moodie couldn’t even make his school A side as a centre.. and now I think he is the future centre for the Boks for the next 10 years.. I prefer him in the middle than the wing.
Am would definitely be in the starting had he not been injured but Kriel is stepping up so much it’s better to commit to the pairing for the knockouts.
I think England are hitting a confidence high and will be very dangerous! If SA can knock that early it will be pretty rough for England to bounce I come back

Still the strongest bench of any team left even without Am , who , despite being a fine centre, I guess has had little game time recently. As a neutral Im looking forward to it , I expect both teams to have something different up their sleeves they’ve kept back.

That depth is key in world cups and a very deliberate ploy between world cups to play the full potential squad between world cups that even if it means we don’t win a few trophies we are not short of players with game time in big matches in all positions going into a World Cup.

This means that SA are often not at the top of the list when critics think of favourites as they don’t have the recent trophies behind them.

I’ve hardly heard anyone remember that Malcolm Marx is missing when he is so hugely influential and to me the best best hooker in the world. I can tell you we are missing Marx a lot more than people want to admit. France wouldn’t have nearly been as influential at the rucks was Marx around.

SA have managed their squad very well and probably have the freshest squad left in the competition. Its a very difficult balance to get right but they've done it well.

Argentina will need to score 3 or 4 tries tonight but thats been a really problem for them all through the WC. Hard to see past a NZ v SA final and tbh thats the most interesting one.

I know Argentina beat them earlier this year, but in Argentina... A WC Semi is a different story though.

'Do not disturb sign' prominent. Derby in the morning. Gonna be two stone heavier on Monday. Give the fat Alan B'Stard's in the rugby a waddle for their money....

NZ crush Argentina. No problems. The cricket has passed me by a bit cos of the times. I'm expecting very little at 12:30pm tomorrow. SA will mincemeat England tomorrow evening. Say my prayers Sunday and finish the communal drinks off, and pay for my sins Monday onwards. Tunes pumping, Shining at 11:10pm or Chopper on at 12:20am, wont remember anything tomorrow midday, wonder why all's I can taste is mad hot pizza. The little things in life.

I agree... Keep your expectations low and the disappointment won't hurt as much.

Well, at least it's good to know that the Saffer's aren't taking the semi lightly:

Expecting the Blacks to coast this tonight. The most recent meeting in Argentina in July the Blacks were 31-0 up at HT and ran out easy winners.

Think they will go for a quick start again tonight. As all great sides do they have got themselves up for the biggest tournament after a lean few years. After all they are the greatest team in the history of Union.
