All I can think of is that Island teams are very in your face, and hit very hard in the tackle and don't really show any sort of emotion, so when something is misstimed it's misconstrued as intent rather than accidental by referees and they get reffed a lot stricter, I could be wrong but it feels very colonial the way they are harshly treated.Multiple offences by wales on the try line and multiple warnings, one offence by Fiji and its a yellow
Its a deeply rooted tory sport so this sort of officiating is to be expected. The real rugby world cup last year allowed Samoa and other nations their dues.Called this live, was uneven handed. Have praised the refs so far, difficult to look past this one.

The best match spoiled by the worst reffing performance. refs have been great in the rest of the matches so far. so good in fact have been singled out for it repeatedly. Stuck out like a sore thumb tonight. Its a deeply rooted tory sport so this sort of officiating is to be expected. The real rugby world cup last year allowed Samoa and other nations their dues.
Sad to see this in what I hoped would be a more enlightened tournament
Could only dream of 25 degrees, but it looks like France is loving the responsibility of hostI saw a clip in a square of the crowd singing “ Hen Wlad fy nhadau” , it looked fantastic , reminiscent of Japan four years ago with temperatures around 25deg, relaxed crowds in the sunshine, singing , drinking beer . The best of times , Enjoy!
Of course they are, there's no kopites.......Could only dream of 25 degrees, but it looks like France is loving the responsibility of host
Any fiji fans who came down the main strip were given a big round of applause by the welsh boysOf course they are, there's no kopites.......
'kin size of em, I'd be buying em all pitchers and wishing them well....Any fiji fans who came down the main strip were given a big round of applause by the welsh boys
Ah come on mate , you saw what happened , Wales were streamrolling towards the try line and he brought the maul down , as clear a yellow as you’ll see on a rugby field, you don’t give warnings for that , it’s straight yellow. It was too far out to be a penalty try , but a few more yards and it likely would have been .Multiple offences by wales on the try line and multiple warnings, one offence by Fiji and its a yellow
Carved out of stone but with the friendliest attitude you could imagine. Fiji produces the best of people'kin size of em, I'd be buying em all pitchers and wishing them well....
I'm about 12 beers deep when that happened, I did ask earlier if I was being romantic when annoyed at the refereeing. I bumped into a group of them in a place called Beppu iin 2019 for the Wales game in Oita. Really lovely people , chatty and friendly they weren’t much taller than me but they were all built like the proverbial, brick, shoite house , as wide as tall nearly. Tongans too , lovely rugby fans , flags and colours everywhere.Carved out of stone but with the friendliest attitude you could imagine. Fiji produces the best of people
About 5 minutes before half-time the ref called a penalty to Fiji, but, as per the normal practise, play was allowed to continue as Fiji had possession. Possession ended due to Wales gaining possession, and a Fiji tackle was deemed high (even thought the Wales player was bent over to about waist height). Penalty to Wales. Now I thought the ref would move things back to a Fiji penalty, eminently kickable for 3. But he ignored that. Maybe I'm getting the rule wrong, but once Wales got possession, shouldn't the ref had blown and taken the play back to the Fiji penalty? Just as in football, the ref plays on for a couple of seconds or so until he sees there is no advantage to the team that was on the wrong end of the foul. I thought Fiji were 'done' on that one...Called this live, was uneven handed. Have praised the refs so far, difficult to look past this one.
