Running 2022

Well, time to start a new running thread for this year. I’m in training for a marathon at the end of May, with two 10kms and a half marathon in March which will tell me how my training is going . So far so good though ,but with this constant wind is not making training runs easy.
What‘s everybody else up to?

what marathon are you running?

Got my first off road race of the season at the beginning of April - Llangollen Fell Race ( 17.5 miles )

I had one cancelled this month in the Lakes, due to the storms.

The past few weeks of training hasn’t been fun - constant rain, wind, sleet and incredibly muddy, which has lead to some very heavy legs.

I’ve literally had to force myself out on some of the worst days lol

I feel your pain . It’s been constant wind for me, combined yesterday with snow and ice . I can take the wind and am used to it, it’s the driving rain/hail that soaks me to my old bones that gets me ?‍♂️?

Same here mate.

Even with all the gear on you can’t stay warm with the rain and the wind. Plus with off road, it turns the trails into quagmires, which running in it batters your legs to death.

It also makes staying indoors very tempting too.

Just back 10 mins ago from my first 5k in 5 months.
The older I get, the longer I leave it, the harder it gets, but I am 53 now so naturally going to get harder.

Never too old mate, you just start off slower, your times are slower and you`re legs are just that little bit stiffer in the morning .

You go from being a brand new Gti, to being a fifteen year old Ford Transit, with 200K on the clock lol

Was doing about 24.30 for 5k last March when I was running regularly.
Just took me 26.50 and was expecting worse if I’m honest.

My oldest is running track for the first time. I was pretty chill when he ran XC this fall but I may have some trouble being chill for track. I had him run a quarters workout Sunday because he missed a track practice last week and I may have unusually high expectations. I guess I have time for his body to respond to training though, but I might have to sit high in the stands away from everyone else when I watch meets.
