Apologies for Congratulating you well after the event. However us runners never get tired of being congratulated. HA

Brilliant time considering you were carrying an injury.

Would you do another?
Well mate , got to say that’s a pretty daft question to be asking a runner two 1/2 weeks after the event ……….I’ve applied for a Good For Age place for the 2023 event and once my injury has cleared up I’ll be back training for it ?

(GFA place is not guaranteed but I was over 10 mins inside the time so it’s highly likely I’ll get a place , next time I’ll hopefully enjoy it more!)

@blueloon @JimmyJeffers

I`ve finally got a diagnosis about my chest / breathing problems.

It`s come out of studies, into long covid, in a college athletes in America and is going to be tagged onto the ever growing list of long covid symptoms.

Exercise Induced Broncoconstriction. (E.I.B. )

It`s asthma, in all but name.

The airways narrow and constrict, during strenuous exercise, causing breathing difficulties during exercise and a dry cough, a raw chest and hoarseness afterwards - all of my symptoms.

As of yet, they have no idea, why it affects people, who prior to catching covid, were very fit, as no damage shows up on the lungs / heart etc and the only treatment at the mo, is inhalers - just like asthma.
That’s rough on you mate, but on the one hand you may now be able to make some progress. My youngest son can suffer from Exercised induced asthma at times, I don’t know a lot about it myself but I’m sure there’s a lot of information out there on it . Good luck with things and getting it sorted ??

A lot of lads I know, who run on the roads swear by Hoka Cliftons ?

I run on the trail version - Challenger and I love them.

Like running with featherlite pillows on your feet.
Hi mate, I’m after a new pair of trail trainers. I know you recommended the Hoka Challenger. I was just wondering how they are size wise as I’m hoping to find a cheap pair on the internet.
Do you wear the same size as your daily trainers/shoes or size up/down.
Cheers, I’ve been a bit lazy lately and need the inspiration to get back out!

What sort of trails are you looking at ?

The Challengers are great for places like hard packed trails.

But, I recently did a race, on a mixture of forestry tracks and trails, in a pair of Hoka Torrent - less cushioned, wider and super light.

I was very impressed with them and they’re now my shoes, for the forests, rather than the hills.

The best bet, is too wait until the end of January, when all the New Year resolution mob, decide they can’t hack it and starting selling all their gear on EBay !

I go half a size up in my Hoka Challenger , normal shoes and some trainers are size 7 , Challenger 7 1/2 .

Oops forgot to mention about sizing !

As @blueloon says, always go up at least half a size with Hoka - all of mine are a full size up.
