Thing is Dave, he's no better than Murdoch himself. I mean half way down the article he accuses Tesco of wrecking communities, agriculture and local businesses, yet offers up no actual evidence for this, much less offer Tesco right of reply.

To be honest mate, and I don't want to argue over it as I won't win, but i'm pretty sure Tesco could reply if they wanted to.

They could, but they're not as entertaining as Brand, nor I suspect as popular, so it's unlikely to have the same affect is it? I mean you're a self confessed fan of him, would you take seriously anything Tesco had to say if Brand took the opposite position?

Depends what they had to say I guess. As it was in response to something a guy I like had said i'd certainly be interested to read it. And if I agreed with their response more I'd admit it.

I watched the interview with Jeremy Paxman and thought it was very interesting. There was a lot of good ideas and a lot of what he said echo'ed what i have said for years about the country realistically needing a revolution from the working class ala labour in the late 1800's (google it).

That being said he basically talked a load of ****e. He kept repeating these long fancy words and in the end he idn't really say anyhting at all, but made himself sound clever by doing it. A lot of people treat him as a hero for it but watch it back and tell me if he says anything of any meat or substance.

Plus the man is a prick. always has been, remeber seeing him on MTV dance years ago before he was famous. Just a pretentious prick who has perfected an act that makes him appear to be somebody he is not.

I actually really like russell brand, especially his old radio shows where he was more natural with his comedy as oppose to the act that he gives on tv shows and interviews. I think he would admit he acts a bit of an arse on tv.
But I agree that the interview with Paxman was just a load of hot air with no solutions, lots of big words and faux anger but in reality he was only given a mouthpiece because he's a controversial 'celeb'.

I thought the above guardian piece was decent, I agreed with a lot he said as I'd imagine a lot of us do but we don't have the platform to voice our thoughts so its nice to see someone doing so and in a newspaper of all places.

He complains about Murdoch doing the same just a few paragraphs earlier.

To be fair, I can't understand why anyone wants to read a tabloid of any ilk, much less the Sun, but that hardly makes Brand the saviour of our times, does it?

He's grandstanding. He wants the radical image without the hard work. It boils down basically to someone stamping their feet and saying the world's ****.

Really? I hadn't noticed Russ. Cheers.

He'll be onto fascism next. Anything to keep his stupid ****ing grid in the spotlight.

From a media perspective though he's done it extremely well. He's the go to person for that kind of opinion at the moment, and whichever outlet chooses to use him can rest assured that it'll generate them exposure.

That what he says won't make a blind bit of difference is probably as damning for the media as it is for him.

It's funny because everything brand says optimises the leftist, everyone hates us, the government hates poor people attitude displayed by lots in here. But because it's Russell brand everyone suddenly disagrees.

Most of your views are rubbish but by god at least stick by them.

Id pay good money to see efcnik v brand in a debate, would be an absolute slaughter.

I have absolutely no doubt.

I like brand although I disagree with him on a lot of things. The man has passion and he believes what he believes. I can respect that.

It just amuses me because everything he's saying pretty much sums up got. Yet everyone's calling brand a knob?

Hmmmm.
