As for Ukraine, you seem to have not noticed that NATO's backing really did not consist of much - whereas the separatists had active Russian military assistance on a considerable scale, and were not able to defeat the Ukrainians; in fact all they managed to achieve was ensuring that what remains of Ukraine is now vastly less Russian than it was before the crisis started.

I agree mate , however the assumption that NATO would easily win a war with Russia is way of the mark.

I don't think it would ever really happen so it is a bit of a daft point anyway, but the way in which NATO / Europe has behaved these past thirty years would suggest that there is a serious imbalance with regards to NATO / Europe's strength and that of the Russians.

What has happened lately in terms of moving into "their" sphere of influence has only ever been tried three or four times before (Napoleon in 1812, WW1 1914-17, the Polish - Soviet War in 1920 and WW2 1941-45), it only half worked once (1920) and even that lasted less than twenty years. That this has been done without resort (in the most part) to an actual war is unprecedented.
 

Four Russian cruise missiles fired at Syria from the Caspian Sea landed on Iran, unnamed US officials say.

It was unclear whether the missiles caused any damage, they said.

Russia's defence ministry has declined to comment.

The news came as Nato renewed assurances to defend its allies in view of the "escalation of Russian military activities" in Syria. Nato is boosting its response forces to be able to deploy troops speedily

If I'm following recent reports These are bad Russian missiles though right ? Not at all like our peaceful freedom bringing British ones .
