....I really can't have that he meant that. I watched most of the 2nd half and he was laughing his head off after he scored. He does hit what I call a 'heavy ball', even his corners have real pace on so it's understandable this one flew and the goalie got under it. I like him, really sets the pace for his team, chases down like McCarthy.

Can see him getting some game time this season, probably from the bench. RM likes 2 defensive midfielders but if they aren't available then it's more likely he'll use Osman, Pienaar or even Barkley before Ledson.

I'm still saying fluke, be interesting to hear what Ledson says.

@RyanLedson97: Great 4-1 win against Poland away! Happy to have scored a free kick

How did our other 2 lads play, only caught the last 8 minutes
Connolly was very good in the first half playing right back and almost had a goal with an assist by Ledson. Didn't notice him as much in the 2nd half but I was watching reruns of the Ledson goal so wasn't paying as much attention. Both he and Ledson were subbed ~70 mins but they had both played the full game just a few days before.

Walsh played the holding defensive midfielder role, seemed to settle as the game went on and thought he was quietly competent.

...Connolly is a good size, if you know what I mean. Jonjo Kenny is a real prospect in the Coleman mould but Connolly appears physically bigger and stronger. The header he scored in the other Poland game showed real desire, strength and ability.

Looks like the reds have a player in Ojo but generally England appear to have some excellent youngsters coming through at various levels and this is evident with results.

Was impressed today that Connolly made the switch to Rb without any noticeable difference in his quality, still running into the box to get on the end of crosses and defensively solid. Both he and kenny have also played in midfield, very versatile players.

I started watching a lot of the England youth team matches because of number of Everton players but now just watch any I can find for their own sake. Unlike the senior teams the lads seem to be having fun and the games are usually fast and exciting with a lot of talent on display. Outside of us, Chelsea in particular seem to have some excellent lads.

I was impressed with how disciplined he was in that summer tournament for england, he clearly has a more expansive game then he showed and the temptation must have been to try and impress, but a 17 year old, picked as captain, stuck right to his role the entire tournament and got the job done
