Sack race 22/23 season

For me Potter is in a “ no lose “ situation if he goes to Chelsea. He’ll undoubtedly want to try his hand away from Brighton at some time, at Chelsea he’ll get a huge salary and no doubt a windfall when he’s eventually sacked, setting him up for life. Meanwhile, he gets to manage a club in the CL with a large number of talented players to work with, it’ll be great experience for him , particularly if he can last 18 months or so. Nobody will look badly on him when he’s eventually sacked, heh this is Chelsea , look at the range of managers they’ve sacked, so he’ll still be in the frame for other PL jobs afterwards , but with more experience.

Might be treated the same way by the players as Moyes was when he went to United.
By all accounts Moyes didn't help himself at Utd at times, I think Potter is a bit smarter than that imo. I don't know whether he will take the job anyway, he will want certain assurances that he is going to have the final say on stuff and I don't think he will take to the owner/board buying players over the top of him as he has quite a technical way of playing. This is the thing for me, Brighton are lots of short, neat, quick passes, keeping hold of the ball and they do it whilst staying fairly tight at the back. Chelsea are quite the opposite imo.

Brighton could implode if Potter goes. They’d be right in with the relegation favourites then if the new manager they get isn’t up to scratch. There’ll be loads of players there who signed for Potter and to play his style.

I think it's important to note that despite Boehly's abrasive entrance into the Premier League, he may not also repeat the revolving door policy in relation to managers. If I were Potter the more concerning aspect would be the fact they outlaid so much in transfer business with players for immediate impact and correlated to Tuchel (even if reports suggests otherwise) only to fire him days after the window closed. How does that reflect future funds, FFP and or approaching a very personality heavy, mainly veteran squad. All potential issues symptomatic of not having a football structure or DoF which is a main factor to his current success at Brighton.

As an Evertonian selfishly Potter taking this puts us in line of possibly getting him in the future. I doubt he last two years or has trophy level success. And if it flames out he enters our tier which he would not really consider currently. But personally and liking him I don't think he will or should take this job. Ashworth leaving might sway his decision a bit but still Chelsea has almost zero overlap in the club structure or squad thats correlated to whats made him successful thus far.
