Sack race 22/23 season

I think it’s good to see a board act so decisively. Everyone knows where they stand, for better or worse.

I think it’s the wrong decision as far as standing a chance of staying in the league, but they obviously think he’s the man to bring them straight back up.

Haven't they spent a tonne of money though? If they're OK with being relegated should they not try and do the yoyo club thing in a more sustainable way?
Not really. Seems to be a calculated series of bets on players with release clauses, etc. They signed Lingard on big money on a one year deal.

Fact is, I don’t see any manager doing much better with 24 new players in tge Premier League.

Cooper’s been outstanding for them and looks a special young coach.

That's fine and I actually want him to do well, but as a club that is just silly when they are rooted to the bottom of the table and thrashed 4-0 by a team everybody else has been smashing - unless they have inserted a get out of jail free clause.
Team of stranger thrashed - would anyone, Raffa more pointedly, be doing any better? At least Cooper wants to ply football and not attritional stuff.

Again I agree he should be given time, it would almost be impossible to gel a completey new team together - in fact it was one of our failings when we were getting 5/6 new players per season. But giving a new contract isn't the smart thing to do.

Basically he has (up to) 10 games to keep his job and if they are still bottom of the table, no way they don't sack him regardless of this new deal.

Rodgers is a fascinating case because there's no way he'll voluntarily leave without getting paid first, but they can't really afford to pay him off either

Real soap opera stuff

And if he does go, the Waiter is favourite for next manager.

Shame, 3,300 away allocation at Leicester, but they’ve had a good run.

They certainly have had a good run. A league and a cup win inside a handful of seasons for a club of their size and history is the stuff of dreams.

But as bad as things are for them at the moment - and they really are bad - I just can’t see that squad going down.

For all the massive pay-off rumours surrounding Rodgers (which seem more than rumours), the owners won’t sit on their hands and watch relegation happen.

I imagine their ideal scenario is for it to click sufficiently with Rodgers that they steer clear of the drop and run his contract down in mid-table obscurity.

But there will be a point where that starts to look impossible and they’ll act.
