Is the issue primarily ten Hag, or is it something deeper? While he's not blameless, I personally feel the issues run much deeper and would swapping rectify it?
It may do some short-term good (a bump in results perhaps), but for me it's sticking a plaster over what is a club that, for its size, is massively dysfunctional.
They're definitely not exploiting their financial might and overall status. As I've said previously, they have spent money but it's been haphazard - no real plan.
It's an expensive squad that lacks any real format to how they want to play and develop; the feeling I get is that there are lots of individuals too, not a team.
Just look at their midfield for an example: Amarabat, Mount, Fernandes, Eriksen, Casmimero, McTominay, Sancho, Antony and some kids.
It's relatively expensively put together, but you don't look at that and look frightened; you don't look at that and go it's players 'worth' lots (ignore what they spent).
Up front, Martial is a dud apart from against us, Hojlund isn't worth anywhere near what they spent and Rashford is once again off the boil. Garnacho is okay.
Let's ignore their defence, and letting De Gea go still seems odd. Like I said, ten Hag isn't blameless with some of his acquisitions and how he's setting them up...
... yet, I think most top managers will look at that squad and think they've got a job on their hand to get a tune out of what's a poor squad in the long-term.
Where does it boil down to? Poor leadership from the top.
