Salomon Rondon is not only lacking fitness/match-fitness he's also well out of condition, which is unacceptable for a footballer no matter what stage in their career they are at. I can understand him not being up to speed fitness-wise, but his body looks like he's been spending the last few months sitting on the sofa eating doughnuts and watching Netflix all day. Not judging like. Netflix has some decent shows on, and who can resist a lovely doughnut.

He's had no pre-season, hadn't played in four months and he's been in China/Russia for two years.

Which was my point all along with the 'no-risk signing'. It was actually very risky.

well yes, but that's what risk you run when you spend the window going for a 32-year-old who's played in China and Russia for the past two years (amid a pandemic so hardly really played in one of those seasons) and don't get it done until the final day.

I don't mind the signing in what he'd bring fully but him having to be thrown straight in just exposed how mad it was. Like, we got blown off by Dalian in July. Was there no other striker in world football who hadn't been playing in some atrocious leagues and had actually had a pre-season available to come in and offer what Rondon offers?

Not being funny here, Rondon is two months younger than Charlie Austin, who was a free agent this summer.
£1.8M transfer war chest for the summer.

Take that in, and if you can you wont be complaining about having to get Rondon in.

Rondon is on far more money here than Charlie Austin at QPR.

Rondon's wage in China, I've seen reported in two places as being £225k p/wk. I've seen one that said £150k a week.

Let's say it was the lower end. Reckon he's taken a pay cut of a third? Because there's no way we should be paying him over £50k p/wk.

Charie Austin is third choice striker at QPR in the Championship.
Rondon is our 2nd choice striker.

The Chinese league is in tatters.

He was leaving at a good time.

No idea of wages, but I highly doubt the club were desperate to get rid of James so they could hand half his wages to Rondon.

He could've still kept his body in good condition. Rondons' fitness doesn't concern me because that will come in time. It's his body conditioning that's a concern (so to speak). It's a lot easier and quicker to get back to a decent standard of fitness if your body is in a good condition.

I don't think it was so they could hand half his wages to Rondon but I bet Rondon is on a fair big whack for a back up forward who isn't fit.

Btw, still think he'll be good for us, but he's not gonna be PL-level fit for months

The internet has provided a safe haven for all of the weirdos who can't keep a coherent thought in their heads for more than five minutes. I used to sit behind a fella in the Bullens that used to shout "get some leather on it" every time an Everton player was on the ball. Every single time, whether they were in acres of space in the middle of the park or facing their own goal on the six yard line surrounded by opposition players. It was bizarre.

In an unrelated matter, @ForeverBlue92 have you ever had a season ticket in the Upper Bullens?

Townsend thrown one or two in but Gordon/Iwobi/Digne were allergic to actually fizzing one into the box and putting some leather on it.
YES!!! I BLEEPING KNEW IT!

That was Benitez's choice and folk complain about Brands add to that Begovic and Lonergan.
