I expect there will be no glitzy announcement a la Martinez or Koeman. The board will be well aware they are stabbing their fans in the back here and so want to push it through as quietly as possible, imo. They've bet their reputation and our entire history on this, so let's hope it pays off for us. Hard to forget we aren't even in the bottom three and the transfer window is only one month away. Did we really need a bottom of the barrel manager and his entire back room staff right now? It's a complete shambles.

I hate the appointment as much as anyone. It's backward thinking and utterly ridiculous given we could've employed a multitude of better qualified managers if we had people that actually knew about football outwith this island and weren't obsessed with EPL experience (I'm staring at you Walsh!)

The only good thing I'll say about Sam is from his appearance on talksport a couple of weeks ago, which was almost like an audition for the job, he really does realise how much of an honour it is to manage the club and totally understands just how big a gig it is.

Doesn't mean he'll be any good at it like, but unlike that Dutch fella who has left us in an utter state of disarray, he at least appreciates just how big a club we are and will be proud to be our gaffer.

Newcastle 21 33.3
Blackburn 76 34.2
West Ham 114 30.7

Crystal Palace 21 38.1
Total 488 33.8

Look at those win percentages! Abysmal. How any of you can condone this corrupt, inept, contemptible human slug having anything to do with this club is beyond me. All I can say is you deserve each other!

As for me. 50 years of enthusiasm for this once great club has evaporated within a few weeks. I have amazing memories, from the first time I went to a game in the sixties sitting on my dad's shoulder watching from the park end the likes of Ball, Kendall, Harvey, Best, Charlton, Moore etc, to being a season ticket holder at the GS end in 70's and 80's and being carried off my feet by the sway of the crowd on those big matches (and loving every minute of it).

The wind has been completely taken out of my sails and I cannot honestly be bothered anymore. Therefore I will have nothing to do with the club while this turd on legs stays in charge. The one consolation is that, since his Bolton days his average stay at a club is about 50 games so hopefully he will be gone before the middle of next season.

At least it gives me an excuse to cancel Sky Sports.

So Sad.....

I fail to see why Allyrdyce coming back to football and getting the best deal he can for himself is evidence of corruption... greed maybe.
But, when you look at the average wage of Premiership footballers and the responsibility and pressures premiership managers work under then I don't begrudge them their salaries.

I think for me it is that we had moved on to a manager of a higher calibre...or so I thought. I thought our next manager would be of the calibre that expects top four finishes rather than a manager that keeps clubs out of relegation trouble... but, that is not the fault of Sam Allyrdyce.

I also think that he realises that shortly after he takes over he will have Coleman, Mc Carthy Bolasie and possibly Barkley available and that is some boost to any manager.

You never know, he might appreciate the job unlike our Dutch Moonhead who had an utter contempt for us and pissed £200mill up the wall.

Far be it from me to defend our new manager, but you must look at the clubs he was managing. I wonder what win% Guardiola would have had he been in charge of them ?

Just saw the pre-confirmation tweet from the club, interesting.

No "delighted/pleased to announce the appointment of" unless, they follow up and that comes later.

But I expected that. Through gritted teeth and all.

I can't see Bill or Bob appearing with him at the press conference either.
He's Walshy's appointment.
