Paying compo to Palace is the icing on this cake.

Big Sam left to spend time with his grandchildren and family.

Had enough of football.

We come in, offer him £6m a year and the family can do one.

One greedy, corrupt money grabbing get.
Ha Ha Ha.

Just about sums him up.

He's a vacuum cleaner set to maximum suction going gathering up as much cash as he can before someone figures out that if clubs top panicking and went for long term appointments of better managers they dont require self publicising chancers like him.

Just saw the pre-confirmation tweet from the club, interesting.

No "delighted/pleased to announce the appointment of" unless, they follow up and that comes later.

But I expected that. Through gritted teeth and all.

I can't see Bill or Bob appearing with him at the press conference either.

Not sure if it's relevant to this thread and in the current climate I'm not starting another one - but over the last number of months I've received a fair bit of stick for how utterly terrible Everton have been this season and how bad our summer transfers now look.

Today though... today has been like rolling up the last 4 months into a 6 hour period.... I know it's jumping the gun to say we're a laughing stock or whatever - but we are the flavour of the month when it comes to 'banter'.

Personally, I closed off my Paddy Power account last week due to the shear amount of mileage they're getting out of ridiculing us... but there are other things that aren't so easy to get away from. Work colleagues, friends etc. This stuff normally doesn't get to me but I honestly can't say I've ever felt so stupid for championing Everton and attempting to be optimistic.

I'm not done, I'll never be done and for all we know Sam will prove us all wrong... but jaysus today has been tough (I know, it's only football and all that).

I feel a bit ridiculous that this has affected my mood so much to be honest and it's only dawned on me that no matter how bad it is for me - I don't actually live in the city of Liverpool.

Right now, I feel for all you local blues - chin up, this too shall pass. It may take longer than we hoped, but this isn't the end of our resurgence and it's not the beginning... but it might be the end of the beginning.

...you can copy and paste all of your Koeman posts, Dave.

Don't like the appointment but i'm still hoping he does well, the sad truth is that even if he doesn't get a response from the players we'll still be stuck with him for at least the rest of the season, no matter where we are sitting in the league - there's no way the board sack another manager now even if it's not working.

...Paddy Power haven’t paid me out yet so this might be a premature evaluation.

I was more concerned we hadn’t appointed a manager than I am that Allardyce has got the job. I respect the very knowledgable views of well researched and referenced posters on here about the spiral decline clubs go into following his tenure. I do think we’re a bit different because we no longer have a hand to mouth existence as many of his other clubs did.

I’m not ecstatic with the appointment but I don’t mind it either. I certainly feel happier tonight than I did after Sunday’s game. I can put up with an organised team playing % football if it means we have mid-table mediocrity for 18 months or so. Allardyce isn’t guaranteed to keep us up but I think we have a better chance than we had with Unsworth.

Very balanced mate, a sometimes difficult thing to accomplish. I enjoy your posts.

Get him in. Get the job done of keeping us up and making us hard to beat again then show him the door in the summer. Or maybe give him 18 months to steady the ship before getting rid. A painful necessity, that we'll just have to grin and bear it. Let's just support the guy while he's here and get behind him regardless of what we might think.
