How obvious is it that they're leaving the official announcement as late as possible to reduce the hammering they're going to get on social media because people will be busy heading to the match.
I think it's a great appointment. Wait and see. At last a manager who understands the Prem.

Tbf to him despite his mercenary ways he does appear to show actual passion and enthusiasm for what he’s doing which is miles away from the likes of Koeman who to my mind was/is an even bigger mercenary.

You can be assured you won’t find sam going awol on the golf course.

No mate you'll just find him negotiating his bumper contract from just down the road in Dubai :dodgy:

Who would you have had? Because it seems they didn't want Dyche(my choice who they could have got over a month ago) couldn't get Silva, and didn't trust Fonseca currently. Unsy was out of the picture. We couldn't afford to wait. I agree he's not the only person who could do the job but he is probably the most experienced. I don't like the guy, I don't like his football, I don't like his past but I didn't like Koeman either and if he stems the bleeding, gets these players actually trying and keeps us up, he's done what he's here for. Yes its a sign of failure, yes it shows we are as bad as other clubs down there currently chopping and changing. But I can't see it long term so I'm angrier and pissed off at the board for the failures(in the summer window for leaving the squad totally imbalanced and in terms of not having a plan of who they wanted when they sacked Koeman) and the players for being cowards, that's what got us here not Big Sam, I'm more pissed off at that than Big Sam being in the dugout because after all the club will still exist after him.

Likely the club will exist but in what state will it be? There is absolutely no guarantee this ridiculous man will stave off relegation. What is clear is that he or at least this whole sorry chapter will undoubtedly leave a toxic legacy from which the club might take a long time to recover from. Honestly, if the idiotic board were really unable to bring in Silva or find the necessary imagination to consider the likes of Fonseca etc. then I would have preferred them to get properly behind Unsy rather than briefing against him, undermining him on Talksports etc. If we do not believe and/or take care of and fight for the soul this club then so be it...

The players' performances this season deserved a mediocre appointment tbh. If he kicks them all up the arse and actually gets them to be a bit more of a team then it could set the ground work for a good future. I think spurs appointing redknapp is a decent comparison for what we can hope for. The football allardyce produces can't be any worse than what i've seen under koeman tbf

Sammy f'ing Lee though. I wonder if that was the sticking point all along. BK saying 'you can't bring him'!

Well it's done for now and we will see how the season unfolds with Big Sam in charge.

Personally, after over 50 years a fan, I have become somewhat apathetic towards Everton this season. The entire club has let me down bigtime.

At least with Sam it will be interesting.

And let's hope the team put some extra effort in for Unsy tonight so that he can finish his tenure with a win.

He's a good manager. I'd hoped we were past his ilk as a club, don't get me wrong.

But he'll keep us up this year and we can bring in an actual manager in the summer. I'm not saying we were nailed on for relegation but I can see why we've decided not to chance it.

This is total delusion based on media hype.

Where is your proof that he is a good manager?

He has a worse win% than any other manager in the premiership.

Pardew was sacked from Palace because he won 4 points from his last 8 games.

Allardyce got 4 points from his first 8.

The only reason he has managed to scrape to safety a couple of times is that you could always rely on 1 or 2 of the promoted clubs to be immediately relegated the following season because they couldn't compete with the big teams and he only had one real place to avoid.

Now, because of all the new TV money clubs can invest more in better players so you are not seeing the usual club or clubs cast adrift at the bottom. So the points target for safety this season will be higher than before.

Just to cheer you up!
